Cal announces football series with Florida Gators
Shortly after scheduling a one-game trip to Notre Dame, the California Golden Bears have scheduled another program across the country with multiple national championships - the Florida Gators.
This series will include a home game at Cal, however. The Golden Bears will travel to Gainesville, Florida to take on the Gators in 2026 (Sept. 19). Florida will make a return trip to Berkeley the following season, set for Sept. 4, 2027.
These games mark the first meetings between the two programs in more than 45 years. Florida holds a 2-0 series advantage. The Gators hosted Cal in 1974 with a 21-17 win. In 1980, the two teams played in Tampa Bay where Florida won 41-13.
The two games mark the second scheduled non-conference date for Cal in 2026 and the first for the 2027 season. Cal is reportedly slated to travel to UNLV 2026, along with their newly scheduled trip to Florida. The Golden Bears have two openings to fill in 2027.
Florida becomes the latest impressive name to be added to Cal’s non-conference schedule. Others include TCU, Auburn and Notre Dame. Cal also has series with Mountain West teams scheduled including UNLV, Wyoming and San Diego State - plus two more home games against FCS opponent UC Davis.
Remaining one-time opponents include Nevada, San Jose State, North Texas, and FCS opponent Sacramento State.
