Which 3 Bowl games interest you the most? I am not talking about games that may or may not be important to the National Championship or Conference Pride. I am talking about teams that should provide a very entertaining game. My Three games are:
1. Chris Petersen Retirement Celebration Game (Las Vegas Bowl). BUY vs Washington. Petersen was the Head Coach at BYU for 8 years before taking the Washington job. His Assistant Head Coach, Brian Harsin, took over at Boise and is still there. Boise State lost just one games this past seson, a 3 point loss at BYU. Washington had a 7-5 record this season, poor for them. It will be BYU's offense against UDub's defense in this one. This is also the last Las Vegas Bowl that the MWC will participate in. A bunch of story lines make this game interesting.
2. Outback Bowl. Minnesota vs Auburn. Minnesota had a very successful season until game #10, when they lost 23-19 to Iowa. They ended the season with a blowout loss at home to Wisconsin. Their schedule was relatively soft. Auburn lost 3 games to the #'s 1, 5, and 9 ranked teams in the nation by a total of 21 points. They defeated #6 Oregon and #13 Alabama to bookend their season. I believe that Minnesota and the Big 10 overall is grossly over-rated. It will be interesting to see if Malzahn can get Auburn motivated for this game. Let's see whether Fleck's Minnestoa team can row the boat in the Atlantic.
3. Cheez-It Bowl. Air Force vs Washington State. The Total in this game is 67, 2nd highest to only LSU-OU at 76, and this one could easily surpass that. The Air Force runs the option, with a decent amount if passing sprinkled into the offense. They averaged about 10 passes per game. Washington State loves to pass. Their defense is more than suspect. How do you score 63 points in a game and lose in regulation? Their defense has given up 31 or more points in 7 games. The 5 teams that failed to score over 31 points against them were all under .500. The Air Force played easier competition over all. This will be a wild one.
