We have the first of what will be many elimination weeks this week. This is the time of year we start to sort out the teams that may make the playoff. Finding good games will take some doing, but here we go. Nothing on the weeknights. Saturday:
Michigan @ Penn State. This game should be a rout. Michigan has no offense at all. The only thing that may get in the way for Penn State is looking ahead to the game at Ohio State next week, and at Michigan State the week after that.
Oklahoma State @ Texas. Oklahoma State has back to back road trips to Texas and West Virginia. Both teams are already eliminated, but they play OU after those two away games, and cannot afford another loss. Will Texas be able to bounce back after Saturdays loss to OU?
USC @ Notre Dame. One of the top 5 rivalries in college football takes on a special meaning this season because both teams have just one loss. The loser is eliminated from playoff contention. The winner moves on. USC held on last night against a good Utah team. The Irish have just one loss, a home loss by 1 point to a solid Georgia team. This should be a great game.
I wonder what the total will be for the Oregon-UCLA game, being played on a Saturday Afternoon in Pasadena. These teams could have the worst combined defenses in the nation.
