Canes hired a new coach tonight
The Canes defensive coordinator Randy Shannon accepted the head coaching job tonight. Personally, I feel they needed to bring in a bigger name coach to keep there elite Florida recruiting status.

What do you guys think about the new Canes coach?

It tells you the state of the Miami program, when coaches are turning the job down.

I agree, they need a big name coach to keep the recruits coming. The name of the school will only go so far.

not real familiar with him, but if he ran their defense the last couple of years he's got to be alright...

It's probably a good idea for this program to go low-key for a couple years. Seems like a good move to me.

Great move, RS is a complete Miami guy. Played his high school ball there, played on the Canes teams during the glory years, coached under JJ with the Dolphins and has kept Miami defense as one of the nation's best during his time as the DC there.

I like it, as long as he can find a good offensive coordinator.
