THIS IS THE FRECKING ROSE BOWL. MICHIGAN WILL SHOW UP.USC is the one that's down. I'm not a Mich fan, far from it, BUT they whip USC's ass.

strange game b/c both teams may have very low motivation which is something of a surprise since both are in a BCS game. I would lean to the USC side personally...but I won't play this game probably.

USC has to be flat after coming so close to the title game.I don't understand the line move.

This one screams no play...
Best thing is to sit back and just root against MICH and watch Loyd Carr make a fool of himself....

oh, is he going to pass this year on 4th and 2.5 ?
WACO, Texas -- The American Football Coaches Association announced Tuesday (Dec. 5) that University of Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr has been named one of five 2006 Regional Coach of the Year award recipients. Carr earned the region-specific honor as the top coach in the Midwest (region 3).
Other Division I-A 2006 regional winners of the award are: Jim Grobe (Wake Forest), Houston Nutt (Arkansas), Chris Petersen (Boise State) and Bronco Mendenhall (Brigham Young).
Southern Cal loses to Org State and UCLA. Mich by three to OSU at Columbus. hmmm.
USC has 3 losses after this one. Line is a gift.

I really am not sure what to think about this game at all guys. As Hawk5 mentioned above this is the rose bowl, and it's still a very highly honored game every year no matter of the situation at hand. However, I'm just wonder how motivated USC will be for this game, after that UCLA game last weekend. I think the best thing to do here is what double B said above and just pass on this one IMO.

This is the Bummed Out Bowl. I've seen bowl games before with one majorly bummed out team but I don't think I've seen one with both teams on this scale. I guess why people may be betting USC is because people think they are getting a somewhat home field advantage playing in Cali. But Mich is by far the better team and if I had to bet it'd be on them. Just the mental state of both teams + the usual layoff factor makes it very hard to pick one with confidence. If by chance that line does keep moving down to pick'em or UM underdog then it could tempt me for a small play on Mich though.

The big question is , which team has the better 'right' to be down. The team that blew it in their final game or the team that thinks they deserve a second chance. ????????
I dunno.

Great question. Based strictly on motivation, I think Michigan gets the lean because Rose Bowl BEFORE OSU/Fla. They definitely want to show they deserved to play for national title. USC playing for being the best 2 loss team in the country...

As much as I respect your capping abilities, I will be surprised Pags b/c this is my favorite play of Bowl season. Difference between last year and this is who went to NFL and who stayed at Ann Arbor.
If Mich kept it to 3 at Columbus, I just gotta believe they can handle a two loss Pac 10 squad for no chalk (Pac 10 placed 2 in top 20, Big Ten has 3 in top 7)
I like Blue better at running b, qb, defense and feel they clearly have the motivational edge. But, that's why they play the game, so we shall see.

Yeah, with Booty on the bench and his backup punter in the shotgun.
Carroll is a great recruiter. He's not a great coach like Jim Tressel, who as much as it pains me to say it is able to put together a game plan better than just about any coach in the country regardless of who he has. Carroll, on the other hand is great at putting 5 star recruits into the starting lineup and letting them do their thing. But put him at a school like Pittsburgh and he's just another Dave Wannstedt, just another coach who couldn't hack it in the NFL. Carroll's team may win on Jan. 1st, but if they do, it'll be because the team consists of more top 100 recruits than anybody else in the nation. It sure as shit won't be because Carroll outcoached anybody.

Well said.
352 days a year, Carroll is the best coach in the nation. The other 13 - when he has to actually make decisions on the fly - he isn't even in the top half of all coaches.

Michigan is the superior team and it almost looks too easy and I can see where some are coming with the "USC is the right side" angle/play, but I haven't been sold on the Trojans all year at all and there is no way I'm playing them in this game despite the Carr factor. Michigan's defense should be able to suffocate the USC offense and force Booty into mistakes.

MICH-1 @ Pinny.......geezze...........the USC people are plunking down. How far does this go in this direction before the patient people pounce on a great MICH line & drive that line back the other way? Being a Westcoaster, I just don't believe in the USC hype...the USC "name" that people are throwing down on instead of the "team" that they actually are "right now".
I know this is kind of stretching it but to get to my point:
USC with better/seasoned players gets beat by.......Vince Young,
USC less those highly skilled/seasoned players gets beat by.........MICH.
Also, which coach can get their players to quit comparing the Championship game to the one that they have at hand, which is being downplayed this year because of the "new" Championship game. It's still a national audience on New Years day, big $ University names & pride are at stake, neither team is going to throw this game, so who is more well equipped "all around" to come out on top, since a spread is apparently not going to be an issue for those who are patient?

Watched ESPN/Home Depot awards last night, saw Carr stating how he had voted MICH #2 & FLORIDA #3, kind of got a feeling with him stating that like he did that MICH will be on a mission to back up there "self-rating"......just got that particular feeling from it that's all.

I know Carrol will want it for sure, USC is a very determined program.
At 1 point within PK, which team is just the stronger team & who comes out on top if both teams bring everything they have, including 100% determination?

Jeez, it is at Mich +1 and still moving juicewise on Pinny. How much farther can it go in the Mich direction? Who exactly is moving this line, is it the large amount of public money or are the 'sharps' really picking USC? Strange indeed. I am undecided when I am gonna hop on this but it may be soon here.
