Texas assistant Chizik is new Iowa State football coach

I think Iowa State will surprise a lot of people with this one. Didn't think they could get someone of his caliber. I think he will do great.

I thought they were going to hire Central Michigan's coach too. That was the big rumors that were floating out there, but I guess thats wasn't the case.

Iowa St. just can't recruit the talent with there lack up a state of the art type sports complex. Hopefully Chizik can over come that obsticle and make ISU a dominate force in the big 12.

Just a stepping stone for Gene in my opinion. If he can get them to win the North and/or the Big 12 title, the Big Boys will come calling and he will easily jump there. Maybe even PSU or FSU.

I'm pretty sure it's a good hire although the only thing that concerns me is that he's never been a head coach...maybe a little of the Mike Martz syndrome...
