TCU QB Trevone Boykin suspended following arrest here in San Antonio

    Trevone Boykin
has been charged with felony assault of a police officer after the TCU quarterback allegedly struck a bicycle patrol officer after a bar fight early Thursday in San Antonio.

According to the Associated Press, Boykin is being held on $5,000 bond. He was arrested at 1:45 a.m. according to the Bexar County Magistrate's website.
He was also charged with resisting arrest and public intoxication, according to reports, after getting into a brawl inside Pat O'Brien's following a confrontation initiated by trash talk.
Boykin allegedly punched a bar patron before the fight continued outside the establishment, which led to the quarterback striking a bicycle officer with an "indiscriminate" punch, according to reports.
TCU head coach Gary Patterson released a statement announcing the suspension of Boykin and wide receiver Preston Miller.
"Trevone Boykin and Preston Miller have been suspended for Saturday’s game due to a violation of team rules. We are disappointed in their actions and apologize to the TCU Horned Frogs Nation, Valero Alamo Bowl and city of San Antonio."
The senior from Dallas was a preseason Heisman candidate before an injury derailed his final campaign and the Horned Frogs' national title hopes. Boykin still managed 3,575 passing yards and 31 touchdowns and also picked up 612 yards and nine scores on the ground.
