There are too many bowls

Outside of the New Year's six, there really aren't many compelling matchups.

82 teams made bowl games. Here is a break down by conference:

Big Ten	10
ACC	9
Mountain West	8
American	8
Big 12	7
MAC	7
Conference USA	5
Sun Belt	4
Independents	2

In 1993 there were 19 bowl games and the games were a lot better. In today's day and age we reward mediocrity (6-6) or almost being mediocre (5-7). Lame.

Eight teams made it from the Mountain West and America????? Seven teams made it from the MAC???? Four Sun Belt teams???? WTF
