Very strong 1st half play Saturday......
I don't consider myself a strong football capper like many here, it's a struggle for me to even make money in this sport. As a result when I post a strong play than I really like it. Take Houston + the points tomorrow in the 1st half.

So Miss is benching not only their stud running back for the 1st half, but also benching their #1 reciever as well. This Fletcher guy is a great back, I am surprised I haven't seen more about this, it's like SD losing LT for the 1st half. The tight end is also someone this team likes to go to, losing Nelson won't help matters either.

On top of this their QB is suffering from turf toe, I have read all week that he just does not look like the same guy as he did before the injury. When they run the option play it's tough as hell for him to cut, anyone ever had this injury than they know what am talking about. If he gets worse the backup is also injured, probably going to see a walk on playing QB if he ends up not going.

Best part of all this is I don't see it written about in a lot of places. I am here in Mississippi and a buddy of mine told me about it early this week, that is when I bet it. Later someone on a forum asked me about it and it took me a while to find this info online. For instance Covers does not list them as not playing the 1st half, neither does other handicapping sites.

I think if more knew about it we couldn't get Houston + points tomorrow, even if you get only +1/2 that can be big for a halftime play. For the record I didn't bet the entire game, I don't like or dislike either side when Fletcher and Nelson play, I did take a bite on the first half under as well though. Good luck on whatever you decide.

ROSTER REPORT: Southern Miss will be without its leading rusher and receiver for the first half against Houston because Fletcher and TE Shawn Nelson have been suspended due to a curfew violation.

With Fletcher out for a half and Southern Miss' only other experienced tailbacks, Larry Thomas and Cody Hull, quitting the team last month when Fletcher became the starter, the Golden Eagles will give senior RB Conrad Chanove the first start of his career. Chanove, who becomes the fourth player to start at tailback over the past seven games, is a former walk-on better known at Southern Miss for holding the school record in the javelin throw and winning the conference javelin championship twice. Chavone has carried seven times for 45 yards and caught three passes for 19 yards. He will be backed up sophomore C.J. Barrows and true freshman Tory Harrison.

Nelson could be out even longer due to a broken bone in the top of his right hand. Nelson, who leads Southern Miss with 15 catches for 189 yards, struggled to hang on to passes against Tulsa, but it turns out he may have already been playing with the injury from a practice two days before the game.

Young's turf toe continues to be a problem in practice, despite a weekend of rest. "He's not real good. At least he wasn't in that Tulsa game," coach Jeff Bower said. "It affected his throwing. It did all week long. We were concerned about that. Even one time in the game, we ran a little naked bootleg off the play-action fake. He just can't turn the corner. If he's 100 percent, he's down that sideline running. It just took him forever, and he didn't look real fast. It's affecting him, but I'm proud of him. He's played with it; he's been a tough guy, and he's doing the best he can. ... Those turf toes are like ankle injuries. Some guys are quicker to respond than others. It's an injury that needs rest, and we can't afford to rest him."

Young's status is even more critical because backup QB Stephen Reaves is doubtful with a high ankle sprain. Walk-on Todd Wilson would be next up behind Reaves, followed by freshman Martevious Young.

Interesting? Am I being paranoid or do you not like the play Dan? I always say "that's interesting" when I am trying to be nice but don't really agree, LOL.

Anyway I admit I like this play. I post in the tracker forum and will post picks there but I rarely post a thread about a game. Truth is I'm not a top football capper, I know it and I don't want to steer anyone wrong.

Having said that though I like this game. If it loses I will own up to it of course but if it wins I don't want you to think I am talking after the fact. I posted threads about two games today, one about Tulsa and the other one on this game. To have a good game I need to win them both....

Fingers crossed, kick-off in 15 minutes.

Sorry guys, hope I didn't kill anyone else today besides myself with this crap. Reminds me why I rarely post plays in the football forums these days. No excuses, I was on the wrong side, period.
