With so much time to prepare for these bowl games...Having a good coach can erase any weakness on a team. Watching the Miss vs TCU is obvious to me that TCU was far more prepared. I honestly believe if Gary Patterson was coaching Ole Miss, they would have won that game. I thought Florida should have offered Gary Patterson a "Jim Harbough" type contract. McElwain is a good coach. But Patterson is one of the best coaches in the country. He took a TCU program that was abysmal and turned them into a football powerhouse. If Patterson stays at TCU, t;hey are going to win a National Championship. There is a ton of talent in Texas and he is one hell of coach.
The offense TCU ran was a direct result of Mississippi's strengths. They used different formations, quick passes and that seemed to catch Miss by surprise. On the other side..it appeared Ole Miss did nothing different! Freeze thought they were simply going to push TCU around and be able to run that vanilla offense and still score points! Awful coaching!
When betting these bowl games..you really have to look at the Head Coach. Bob Stoops/Hugh Freeze simply get out coached. I believe Rich Rod is a pretty good coach but this Arizona team lacks talent. I also believe Bryan Harsin, Boise's coach, is very solid. I would bet we see him at a top notch football school in the near future.
