I was actually eying this game a few days ago.. I even held off one big bet bec I wanted to wait for this one Xmas eve.. I know a ton of people will be busy & I don't know if this game is being overlooked by most. I live in Houston, used to play our high school games at Rice Stadium (but I am not a Rice fan or go to the game's at all). I have seen Rice quietly have a pretty solid year actually. They did go 7-5, which is not great, but 3 of the losses were to start the season to two ranked teams in N Dame & Texas AM. So they started 0-3 & rebounded to win 7 of the next 9 losing to only Marshall & La Tech the last game of season. They did get blown out that game, but Jackson threw 3 pics with his 4 touchdowns & 340 yards. Those hurt bad & La Tech just kept playing great ball.. Rice is not a great team IMO, but they do have a good QB & if you take away that LT game, their defense had played SO much better after the 0-3 start averaging giving up only 18.75 pts per game including the 41-14 loss at Marshall. This game is not in Marshall or in La Tech..
I hope Rice comes out strong today & can score some points on this Fresno team.

Fresno on the other hand has 3 wins in the last 9 weeks. They were to Hawaii, San Jose St, Nevada.. UNLV beat them, Boise beat them twice but majorily let off the gas pedal in the 28-14 win after they destroyed them a month earlier in reg season play.. Wyoming almost put up 50 on them. I am not buying that beating those 3 schools and New Mex, Southern Utah & SDST (prob their best win all year) are good enough to beat a solid Rice team with improved defense for sure (which should also be wanting to make a statement after the 4 turnovers and getting beat down by La Tech..). Fresno is getting a lot of love on this line I think & I'm not buying it. I could see Rice winning by a touchdown today, at least I hope so, lol..

When Rice loses, they lose bad = 48-17, 38-10, 41-14, and 76-31.

But when Rice is favored, they are 7-1 straight up and 7-1 ATS with seven wins in a row. The problem for Rice is that most of their wins have come against teams with losing records, actually all had 4 wins or less, except for UTEP which is the only team Rice beat with a winning record.

But good news for Rice - Fresno has a losing record and Rice is favored. I think the trend continues and Rice covers.
