I am a huge Silva fan but you have to admit it wasn't a lucky punch. I took Silva first time around and was just heartbroken.
Lets look at my random off the top of the head breakdown of reasons for each side:

Silva -
-Maybe he clowned too much (but this is not unlike any other fight for Silva.. clowning to keep the fight standing and force opponent into mistakes)
-Weidman looked a bit worse in the second round. A little gassed. Silva began landing brutal leg kicks and was just off the mark on a front kick. He also stuffed a few takedowns with ease.
-Silva has pointed to his footwork as reason for being knocked out - if this is true - maybe he corrects this simple problem
-Silva DID get into Weidmans head. Weidman has admitted this
-Silva is the GOAT
-Weidman did look gassed in second round
Weidman -
-First round takedowns with relative ease
-Landed nice shots from the top that stunned Silva
-Went for an ill advised submission that lost him the position
-Second round slowdown may have been adrenaline dump (reasonable assertion)
-KTFO Silva
-Silva didn't want a rematch initially, spoke about being mentally tired being the champ. so many expectations weighing on him at all times.. does he really want to be champion again?
-Machida dropping to MW; Anderson will never fight Machida. Even if he wins he will most likely vacate title and look for superfights/Roy jones sillyness (Silva recently said he will probably retire after this fight regardlesss of the outcome)
-Matt Serra wasn't in Weidman's corner first time around. He will be there this time. Matt Serra is actually a great cornerman
-Weidman was coming off surgery and a long lay off and still knocked silva out
-Weidman is young. Everytime he gets in the cage he is going to be exponentially better
No idea who I am going with yet.. maybe just maybe I will just enjoy this fight rather than betting it.. lol jk

Since posting this the line for Anderson has climbed and is at -165 now.. I am very much considering taking Weidman at +155/+165, too much value in that pick to pass up. I wouldn't load up either way, honestly. The fight can go either way. Silva is the best thats ever stepped foot in the Octagon but he hasn't fought anyone with skills like Weidman in a long, long time (except maybe Vitor)
If you're looking for some "sure bets", I'd take a look at Dennis Siver, Jim Miller, Dustin Poirier. I REALLY like Dennis Siver and Dustin Poirier. Dennis is a giant featherweight with dynamic stand-up and crazy kicks. Manny G is coming off a questionable decision over Cole Miller and is not on Siver's level in the standup game. Siver's TDD should keep this fight standing and cruise to a 30-27 decision victory.
Dustin Poirier pick is all about cardio. Diego Brandao typically blows his wad in the first round and fades.. this will be amplified by the fact that he missed weight by 8 f-ing pounds. He's either injured or has had a terrible camp to miss weight that badly. He weighed in at 153 and then cut 1.5 lbs in an hour, still missing weight. This means he forfeits 25% of his fight purse and is not eligible for any "OF THE NIGHT" bonuses. If Diego doesn't get a sub or ko in first round this fight is Dustin's and he will dominate the latter 2 rounds.
Underdogs, I like Michael Johnson over Tibau.. Tibau is enormous and cuts so much weight. He habitually gasses in the 3rd round. Johnson is no world beater but I like him in this spot against the much larger gatekeeper.
I'll post more in the ufc forum later as I have a better understanding of my bankroll.. which is looking bleak as I watch peewee league ND tackling on the kick offComment -
