Duke at VT

I haven't looked at this yet, but you have to judge VT from week 5 on. It looks like Logan Thomas might finally be getting his act together.

That's fine. And yes he is playing better. But look at their scores in the last 3 games. They usually don't break 20 points. They scored 19 on Pitt and that game was at home. I'd put Duke's defense right up there with Pitt's. But Duke's offense is quite a bit better than Pitt's. Duke will score at least 14 points. And they'll eat up clock on drives they don't score on. So expect to see VT score around 20 points themselves. This game will be closer than expected.

I agree here. Beamer ball is boring. Duke can score, something that a lot of VA. Tech's opponents have had trouble doing. There is no way Duke wins outright, but they should be able to cover 13-14 points.

I had Duke last year vs VA TECH and Duke opened 20-0 in the first half and lost 41-20. They do not have the athletes to compete with VA TECH IMO. Duke will not score enough or their defense will get blown off the ball like last year. Good Luck

When you've sucked for so long it's hard to learn how to finish games and win. That's the challenge Coach Cutt at Duke has had. But I've noticed with each year that he's been there, they've gotten better and better. You won't find a better coached team in the ACC.

It was obvious watching VT play Bama that they had a fine defense and that has proven to be true. No. 3 in the nation in total D and No. 6 in scoring D at around 17 per game. It was also obvious in that game that the offense needed some direction...I think that's probably proven true also.

After losing to Alabama, Beamer has won 6 straight and got the team in the top 20 rankings. VT had an off week to heal up and get ready for Duke. The Hokies win with defense as evident by their last six wins.

45-3 (W. Car), 15-10 (E. Car), 29-21 (Marshall), 17-10 (GT), 27-17 (NC), 19-9 (Pitt).

I agree with you they win workhorse. But I have my doubts as to whether they cover. Duke is better on both sides of the ball than pitt. I just don't expect them to increase their margin of victory 60% over their last 5 games avg.

Duke is so bad it is hard to take them + points. They lost to Ga. Tech and to Pitt. VT is going to control the tempo of this game so that it doesn't turn into a shootout. I'm leaning towards the under.

That pathetic Pitt team scored 58 points on Duke this year and beat them. They only scored 9 against VT and lost. GT scored 38 points on Duke and beat them, Duke only scored 14 that game. VT beat GT 17-10, they held a very good offense to 10 points. Still think Duke will win?

I have done a lot of teases this year and Virginia Tech has hit on their side for me the 4 times I have taken them. A solid defense like theirs seems to be a great formula for teasing.

I like that strategy. I can see Duke keeping this within a TD.

I understand all that but I'm telling you Duke is a different team with Boone under center. He makes them better on both sides. He can produce long drives thus keeping the defense off the field.
