After this first weekend of college football, I cant wait until next week. And with this match up, it should be a fine weekend.
Go Longhorns.

OSU/NIU post-mortem...NO PLAY on Tex/OSU...play Texas@-1'...play OSU@+10'
What was witnessed was the test of OSU offense w/o suspended TE Marcel Frost.
OSU messed up bad near goal line twice COUPLED with two missed field goals---20 points more could have been scored.
OSU's offensive line has looked better only because LESS WAS BEING ASKED OF THEM...unlike former QB Stanley Jackson...
Troy Smith can throw...OSU always had receivers w/good hands...
...key for Texas game....
Was OSU able to force defense to provide interior help inside at expense of single coverage on wide-outs?
Answer: No!!!
Northern Illinois a qualitively better team than Longhorns foe, N. Texas(would be "touchdown dogs" against Minny, Purdue, Mich St., Wisconsin)
OSU got speed w/ N. Ill and performed EXCEPT WHEN IT CAME to punching ball across goal line....
OSU Defense did not perform well enough in trenches and in containment to prevent 5'7'' Garret Wolfe from shredding them for big yards.
Bucks D will now face multiple Longhorns backs with Wolfe's abilities and pulling O-linemen with speed.
Not a reco- bet on Longhorns...but no bet on bucks either...lots of good game film...lots of players involved in game for bucks...good coaching staff at OSU...
...but an imperial Rome cannot be built in a week.
NOTE: Troy Smith did not take to his feet in this game...which was part of my thesis for forcing NIU defense to provide interior help...good backs...question mark @ TE...Smith's legs.

Excellent write up.
Both teams are the REAL DEAL and both teams have a small achilles heel.
For me this game is simple. If Texas can run the ball effectively and bag 175+ yards on the ground they win. If they bag under 125- they lose and in the middle its a coin flip and maybe overtime.
OSU's great QB and WR are effectively made average by a sure tackling and very hard hitting Texas defense that rivals the great Miami defenses of the mid 80's or the Nebraska defenses of the early 90's.
What about home field and revenge?
The home field is real. At kick off it will likely be 95 degrees. That alone is tough, throw in playing a fast hard hitting defending championship team and you could have some worn buckeyes by the 2nd half. The revenge factor is something to consider but with OSU ranked #1 and Texas #2 you can't really think Texas would be over confidant.
Bottomline I like Texas to win this game on the strength of their defense. Between the heat, home field and a murderous Texas defense I would bet OSU makes one more mistake than Texas and one too many turnovers. The first half under would be a play as well.

I just bought two tickets that are between the 20 and 30 yard line for $1200 each.
I would have taken my chances and bought them on gameday from the scalpers but I'm taking my Dad who is up there a bit in age and that strategy just wont work for him.
Outside the stadium on game day I'm sure you can buy 30 yardline seats for $600.

this puts a void in the longhorns secondary:
Texas cornerback Tarell Brown was arrested on misdemeanor drug and weapon charges early Monday, leaving his status in question for the No. 3 Longhorns' game with top-ranked Ohio State.
that loss is gonna hurt texas badly in this game.

Early look Texas -2.5 looks REALLY good to me. OSU is far more talented than the Northern Illinois team they played against. I actually go to NIU and I knew the problem NIU would have would be with their secondary. That is where they got blown up. Aside from their secondary issues the game would have been close. OSU had ZERO defense against Garrett Wolf and Texas will have no problem putting up points. The Texas secondary is also way more respectable than NIU's. However with Texas's star corner most likely out for the Saturday game, that hurts a lot. I still like Texas -2.5, but wont bet it. I'll wait and hope the line moves enough with this information to make it a pickem game at least. Otherwise Ill keep my money out of it.

OSU took out Troy Smith in the 4th quarter, and brought in Swick. So, with that being said you really can't measure the points scored.
On the Texas side... You gotta remember who texas played too.

Are you for real? I haven't bought any premium tickets for awhile but I bought a pair of 30 yard line tickets, about 20 rows up, to the OU vs. Neb game (no. 1 vs. 2), for about 200 from a scalper several weeks before the game... I would expect to go to a championship game for 2400 bucks... hmmm... guess it is time to get back into the ticket scalping business huh? ;-)

interesting how pinny is hesitant to take this thing back up to 3...Ohio St. looked pretty solid vs. NIU and I thought Texas looked OK against a weak UNT squad...
