No we are not calling for the Ragin Cajuns of Lafayette to shock the world as 31-point underdogs here, but this just may be the best team in the Sun Belt Conference this year and it has the running game to keep this contest respectable.

ULL won its last five games last season and it returns its starting quarterback Jerry Babb and more importantly leading rusher Tyrell Fenroy. Fenroy ran for 1,053 yards in 2005 with 569 of those yards coming during that five-game winning streak. He may very well get some national recognition this year running behind a very experienced offensive line. In fact UL Lafayette as a team surprisingly ranked seventh in the country in rushing last season at 254.3 yards per game on the ground, so we look for several time consuming drives that are very beneficial when getting more than four touchdowns.

Now LSU is obviously talented, and the Tigers even have a chance to go undefeated this season if they can win on the road at Auburn in two weeks. However they do have quiet a few new faces on the offensive and defensive lines, and they feel this seemingly easy opponent is a nice spot to break them in. LSU also has to guard against lethargy here with Arizona up next and Auburn after that. Yes the Tigers have more than enough to win this game with a vanilla offense and defense, which may very well be their approach so as not to give their next two tough opponents anything to scout. That would be very conducive to a Lafayette cover with this enormous spread.

Lafayette would be the way i'd play this game as well, but i'm passing on it myself.

not sure I'd bet against such a talented LSU squad that they may want to rub it in on...but that's just me...
