The Horns -43 against New Mexico St. is a can't miss. So many factors to lay a huge #.
1. NMSU is just plain horrible. They won 1 game last year. Last 9 games, scored over 14 pts only twice and that was 17 and 20 pts. Texas St. just down the road scored 66 their last game and a terrible BYU offense put up 50. One of the more amazing stats you will ever find is that TSU rushed 40 times for 415 yds for an ELEVEN yard average.
2. NMSU lost their best player (WR) over the summer.
3. New QB that has thrown a total of 2 passes.
4. Mack Brown. He knows Texas fans want his pansy ass gone. If the Horns don't look like Super Bowl Champs the first game the howling will already began big time.
5. Major Applewhite. Major will be the OC this year and he is very aggressive and will want to score at will and often.
6. The new up tempo offense just wears out the teams with zero depth and extends the game to about 4.5 quarters.
7. Talent. The Horns return 19 starters this year and do have some serious talent.
Bottom line, I normally always stay away from such large lines but this game is a unique circumstance that can't be passed up. The Horns truly could score 80 in this one and you can bet they will want to get close. Don't hink there is anyway NMSU scores more than 10.
Even though I do think the Horns will be really good this year the pick is more about just how bad NMSU is as a program. The last 5 years worst in CF ATS.
