As I stated in my post on the Oklahoma State/Mississippi State game instead of starting my post with my break down on how I view this game, which might influence how others feel about it, I am going to try to let others who might have put time and effort into analyzing it share there opinion and comments first, as this might provide me with insight that I am not seeing at the moment, because I have a very strong feeling and vibe on USC, despite the fact they are playing in Hawaii, and will have a new starting inexperienced quarterback. Also where do you see this line going?

#2The line has bounced around the 21.5 to 22 point area for a while. Who knows what USC will do in this "tune up" game. Once USC establishes command of the game, you are going to see a lot of players in and out of the lineup. They will most likely use all three QB's, and as many players as they can. This will give Hawaii a big opportunity to back door the line. I do not play USC games, but if I did, there is no way I would give 22 points. Not during "vacation" time.Comment -

#3i'd think it should be higher.. hawaii will definitely improve from last year (did much, much better at end last year). of course, based on mid-season last year this spread should be 50 points...... new qb at usc. kiffin may feel need to prove himself. no letting up on norm chow this time.
not enough points. take USC.Comment -

#7The problem with this is that you are not basing the point spread on mid season last year. You are basing it on game one this year. You may as well say that if you base it on the end of last season, the line should be -14. There is NO WAY USC scores 50 in this game. Once again this is a scrimmage for Kiffin so he can get a look at all of his QB's in a game situation, as well as many players. USC rarely covers this type of situation.
you are easily the worst poster here and i think you bring down this board alot... would be much, much better if you weren't here.Comment -

#8I have over 7000 posts in here and you have 579. And you say it is time for me to go. Care to put that to a test? How about a vote? Loser leaves for the season. After all, YOU are the one that has a screen name beginning with "gojets". Right. Like the Jets really have a chance. Mind your manners before I really take you to task. While you are at it, explain to me how a 49-10 win is letting up on a team. I am sure that all of us would like to hear that. You really have no idea do you?Comment -

#12I can't see any reason to play it.
Why? Well, for one. Kiffin is a variable you can't cap. He just announced he will retain play calling duties, and he's a horrible play caller, anyone remember that sequence at the goal line against ND last year? 7 plays and he couldn't manage a single yard?
And, SC has a new defensive coordinator.
I think SC will try to get as many kids in the game as possible-- they have little depth, and they may need that just in case bodies start going down.
This is one of those games you may love the favorite-- and it may cash, but the smart play seems to be to watch what Kiffin does and just learn from week 1.Comment -

#15There is no way Hawaii should be even close to USC. I think USC -21 ish is a solid bet overall. The talent in hawaii is still pretty subpar as none of the talented local kids stay any more ( mariota, teo, etc.)
Of course the variable will be norm chow. Still I think with just the talent mismatch, recent OC firing and completely whole new system revamp at hawaii, usc is the solid favorite. I'm going to see if I can catch hawaii practices to get a better feel but I personally would cap the game at at around -31. I like the first half play alot too especially if its around -12.
I think its a solid bet. I will probably go big myself against my team leading up to the game.Comment -

#16this hawaii team looks like a mess to me, theres a reason norm was an OC for a million years, i guess he is gona be callin the plays again (OC fired right before camp very odd), but you want to lay over 3 tds with lane kiffin in a place full of distractions?
i could make arguments for both sides in this one, id probably go with the points if i had to though.Comment -

#17I'm an SC fan and keeping a pretty close eye on fall practice. Kiffin has stated he would really rather not run 2 qbs. I expected Kessler to win the job after a great spring and the Sun Bowl performance of Wittek still in everybody's mind. So far in fall camp Wittek has outplayed Kessler but it is very early. The defense this year will run a Hybrid 5-2 scheme. The d-line will be the strong point and leaned on hard in the early part of the season. There will be a lot of underclassmen playing in the secondary this year. I think they will start of slow with a few mistakes trying to adjust to former CAL D coordinator Clancy Pendergrast's defensive scheme. I'm staying away from the games because there is a lot of unknowns as of right now. If I had to bet it I would take Hawaii at 21.5 and higher. Nothing lower than 21.5.Comment
