Chunk, Dane, Fred, Killer, Lou, Urban, Sue..Question?
This may sound like a strange request...but please indulge me if you will men. A few months ago I came back to the SBR CFB forum and you guys have been the posters along the way that have made this experience fun and worthwhile. You guys posted when it wasn't popular to even think about college football. Welcome all posters, but especially interested in what Chunk, Daneblazer, Fredvic247, KillerDemo, Louisvillekid, Urbanwildlife and Suicidekings consider their favorite sports. Maybe seems stupid but not to me or my friends.

    I'll start:

    1. CFB
    2. NHL
    3. NFL
    4. CBB
    5. NASCAR

*I'd rather watch a nice painted wall dry than watch NBA, MLB or Soccer.

Thanks guys, will give all of us a little read on each other during the CFB season.

Far and away my favorite is College Football because of the beautiful stadiums, the energy and passion of the players and fans, the skill of many of the athletes, and the unpredictability of the athletes because the game is being played by students athletes. It is in in fact the only sport I really pay attention to. I do watch NFL football, but I am not religious about it, and the other sports do not appeal to me, other than College Basketball at tournament time, and again that has to do with the energy level that comes into play. I also do not have a favorite team as I love the sport itself.

On another note here is a question for you. What is the difference between a good coach and a great coach?

1 golf (march madness too but that's a sub-set of CBB)
      2 cfb
3 mlb/tennis/nba (generally won't make an appointment to watch any of this)
      4 cbb/soccer (barely watch anym
5 nhl (and i live in canada LOL)

NFL isn't on my list. very game specific. san fran/seattle/playoffs is up near #2. the rest of nfl games #4.
      large separation between each category

canadian football would be a #2 as well.

        To watch:
        1) CFB
        2) NHL
        3) NFL
        4) Tennis (only the big events. Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open)
        5) NBA

        To bet:
        1) CFB
        2) NBA
        3) Tennis
        4) NFL
        5) Soccer (mostly English Premier, Bundesliga, and Champions League)

Baseball is a complete waste of time, IMO. College basketball is ok, but requires too much work with 350 teams and my bets are almost entirely market-determined rather than fundamentals. I also love betting on UFC, the Olympics, and elections, which all provide ridiculous opportunities at times.

          1a. CFB
          1b. NFL
          1c. MLB

          Way further down the line...
          2. NBA
          3. March Madness

Not as big in baseball as I was in the past...use to be one of those ridiculous saber metric stat heads. I could name every player on every team sans a few relief pitchers and bench players and I knew each teams top 20-30 prospects.

Play a lot of poker too tho I wouldn't consider that a sport.

Been to NHL games when I lived in North Carolina and to Daytona...both were were awesome to go to but I can't get into them on TV.

              Gojets...take a breath Buddy...and I mean that in a good, friendly way.

This AIN'T about you as much as I love your attitude my friend on this forum.
I owe Urban a good answer about coaching and a response to all other respected guys mentioned who might have questions.

This is SBR's early CFB troopers/lovers/loyalist........nothing more....and we ain't going to hide.

                @ Workhorse,
My question actually was in the form of a joke, as the way to tell a good coach from a great coach, is a good coach wins the game, but a great coach wins the game and covers the spread! lol

Workhorse: When the season hits it takes some searching for the good info rather than right now in the off season. Everybody and they bro will be posting picks here. NCCAF is what I cap...dabble in MLB sometimes but for the most part its NCAAF... Will be watching for your picks Workhorse

                    1. CFB
                    2. CBB
Love the traditions, venues, and the passion college kids (including the fans) put into the games. Some of the stadiums/home courts are electric.
                    3. NFL
I like football and these guys at least for the most part show up to play.
                    4. Golf
Most likely only watch because I play the game.
                    5. NBA, MLB, NHL.
Playoffs only. Seasons too long and travel is arduous.

I think that CFB and CBB are the most beatable and I play hundreds of these games each year. Suicidekings was correct about CBB being very time consuming, but the northern winters and my being semi-retired allows me more time for it now. I also play the NFL, but in my opinion, it is a little tougher market to beat.

Workhorse: You seem to be a down the earth guy and are a breath of fresh air in here. Props to you for ramrodding the CFB forum. All of these forums need more "common sense" interaction that might even be beneficial for some.

Hi Work. I think you know my top 5, but just in case:

                      1. CFB. By far and away.
                      2. NFL. More for the wagering than the actual game, but I do love the NFL Red Zone. Get the action without the boredom. 3. NHL. Love the game.
                      4. Horse Racing. I love the ponies. Great entertainment every day.
                      5. NASCAR and all Automobile Racing for that matter, but that is in a different Area Code than the Top 4.

This was more meaningful than a simple question. I hope that some thinking individuals realize that.

                          1. CFB

                          3. NFL
                          4. NBA

Thats it for me, rarely watch NBA....

Thanks men, I had to run over to Atlanta yesterday and didn't get back til late last night so first chance I've had to respond. Looks like college football is the constant among all of us but I figured that because of your interest here on this forum. I value all you guys and look forward to searching you out once all hell breaks loose in the CFB forum when the season starts.

Might have offended Gojets and for that I apologize...love his energy and enthusiasm here at CFB.

Urban, in my humble opinion, the greatest college football coach to ever live was Paul "Bear" Bryant.

It was said of Coach Bryant: "He could take his and beat yours or he could take yours and beat his."

He wasn't the greatest X's and O's coach but he could get MORE out of his players than anyone else.
