I don't want to automatically fade A&M because they are likely to be a public favorite. Nevertheless, Rice appears (on paper) to have a fairly respectable squad with a lot of experience. They played well late last year winning six in a row, including a bowl game. This year the return almost their entire team. A&M lost some talent defensively and should have some problems on that end. I could see Rice putting up a few scores and covering that 29. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I agree with you as Rice has a pretty damn good team coming back, and I would expect them to cover this spread as well despite the fact Texas A&M has such a powerful offense. Yes they did lose some defensive starters, but from what I have been reading they have some good recruits coming in to replace them. This is a good I will definitely consider.Comment -

Rice is a veteran team and should have a pretty good season this year. We all know they are not likely to beat Texas A&M straight up but should go all out in this one and make a good showing. Because of the Bama game in two weeks, I can't imagine Sumlin being nothing more than vanilla on offense...same with the scrimmage against Sam Houston State the following week.
Taking the dog might be a play being the opener for both teams. Who knows?Comment -

the more i read about rice, the more i like it. people seem to think it may be elite non-bcs. very borderline bcs buster
gotta figure TAM takes a moderate step backwards this year with all the hulabaloo surrounding manziel. i know it's not the same situation but i think it's analogous so how often do guys set the world on fire after coming back for senior season after turning likely high first round nfl draft spot. seems like this is classic letdown/distraction spot.Comment -
