Can Nebraska Win the Big 10

Probably not. Bo Pelini has won 49 games during his five years at Nebraska but the Huskers have failed to win a league title during that time and are on a three game bowl losing streak. One reason for lack of confidence in the Cornhuskers winning the conference this year is the same as the past few seasons. They just don't play good enough defense anymore. The Nebraska offense has been pretty good of late expecially rushing the ball but the defense has been terrible stopping the run (90th last year). The 2013 schedule has eight home games and no Ohio State or Wisconsin to contend with so Pelini should have another nine or ten win season. However, to contend for the title, the defense would have to improve dramatically.

Pelini is 49-20 straight up and 34-32-1 against the spread during his 5 years in Lincoln.

2013 Schedule: Wyoming, Southern Miss, UCLA, South Dakota St., Illinois, @Purdue, @Minnesota, Northwestern, @Michigan, Michigan St., @Penn State, Iowa

With that schedule, Pelini should keep his streak of winning at least 9 games per season intact.

I've got to think the old Nebraska faithful are scratching their heads with what Pelini has brought to the table defensive wise. Other than 2009, the D has NOT been oldtime Nebraska 'Black Shirt' defense. Strange because Pelini is susposed to be a defense minded coach.

Hard to figure................maybe some Husker fan can help us out.

There's no way that Nebraska wins the B1G this year...my Badgers have a better chance of getting to Pasadena for the 4th year in row than Nebraska winning the B1G this year. Badgers just need to beat OSU "which will be extreamly difficult" and they are going to Indy.

If Wisconsin gets to Pasadena again this season, the Big 10 should be demoted to the ranks of the AAC. Wisky loses at Arizona State, much less in the Big 10.
