Looking through the games for week one, the best play seems to be Washington -3. The Huskies return a lot this season and should have a big improvement from last season. On the other hand, Boise doesn't return much. The bowl game last season was a close hard fought matchup, but this time around, Washington should get the job done. Thoughts?

#4I don't know how you could possibly come to the conclusion that the Huskies are the best play in Week 1... I think you picked the wrong team in probably the 4th/5th most interesting game. Boise has some depth issues in the DL, and inexperience in the secondary, but overall their defensive team is loaded with potential. The kids just need to step up. Offensively, Boise is loaded. Southwick is extremely solid and has a group of huge receivers to work with, plus some solid talent in the backfield.
For the Huskies, Keith Price is not a very dangerous QB with a history of being fragile, and Sarkisian is making a big schematic change, moving into a no-huddle, high tempo style of play. You're not going to catch Chris Peterson sleeping with tempo, and the Huskies aren't worth laying -3.Comment -

#5It's always fun to speculate and prognosticate early, but most coaches don't even know what they have yet. I, for one, don't lay too much on the line early.Comment -

#6D Med, college football kickoff is just a little over two months away...it will be here before we all realize. I agree with Sucidide that there are better/safer openers than the Boise/Washington game. Several games jump out at me but right now I like Florida State -6.5 against Pittsburgh. FSU is just the much better team...offense, defense and special teams. My view is the Noles cover easily in this Monday night opener.Comment -

#7I watched Washington a lot last year, and I saw a lot of potential in this team. They beat a very good Stanford team last year, and I think a lot of people will underestimate them. Like some of you said, it's early. I just wanted to get some thoughts on the game that interested me the most.Comment -

#8Med, I think you're right that Washington has a chance to improve on last year's 7-6 record. Good nucleus with 16 starters returning. Much of the Huskies success rides on the shoulders of QB Keith Price. He needs to be more productive than last season especially cutting down on turnovers. He threw 13 interceptions compared to 19 touchdowns. During 2012, the offense was 88th in scoring, 84th in rushing and 81st in passing. Improvement has to come on the offensive side of the ball for Washington to get to eight or maybe even nine wins this season.
* Washington is the only school in the Pac-12 that hasn't won at least eight games in any season over the past eleven years. To break that string...Price and company are going to have to 'Cowboy Up' and help the defense.Comment -

#9WorkHorse, their O line was dismantled by injuries last season, and Price was running out of the pocket as soon as the ball was snapped. Which lead to a lot of bad decisions by Price. I remember one game, due to injuries they had to use a TE as an offensive guard because they had no one else.Comment -

#10Point well taken Med. Looks like coming out of spring practice all but the center will be back on the starting offensive line. Still, QB Price is a big question going into this season. Washington has some outstanding receivers and a pretty good running game (name skips me but one back rushed for over 1,400 yards last year). A new QB coach was brought in to help Price...along with going to a no-huddle, up-tempo offense...hoping to take advandage of his playmaking skills. I'm not putting the kid down but I just don't have much confidence in him. I'm thinking he needs a "check-up from the neck-up" to get his mind right.
On the other side of the ball, the Huskies should be pretty decent on defense if they can get good play out of the D-line.
I thinking the pull-dogs should get fired up playing in a new stadium this season. We shall see!Comment -

#14two things to keep in mind.....
for all the people loving boise over washington (me too), washington has a ton of talent and could be seen as being at a key positive inflection point.
hope i'm not wrong. but isn't this the first game at their renovated stadium which always gave them a pretty good HFA..... be a ton of boise people there though i'd imagine.Comment -
