    Colorado Buffalos Downhill Slide
Colorado has been on a downhill slide since the Gary Barnett era ended in 2005 with a 20-54 record. The Buffalos have not had a winning season since and had their worst record in the program's 123-year history in 2012, finishing 1-11 and resulting in coach Jon Embree being canned after just two seasons. (*Embree was over his head from day one and should never have been hired)

Enter new coach Mike MacIntyre, son of former Vanderbilt head coach George MacIntyre. Young MacIntyre took over a struggling San Jose State program and led them to a 11-2 record last year, their first 11 win season since 1940. MacIntyre faces a huge challenge in Boulder but I for one think he's the man to turn the Buffs program around and the rebuilding has already started. My take is Colorado will be a team to watch the next three or four years.

    2013 Schedule

Colorado St., Central Arkansas, Fresno St., Bye, @ Oregon St., Oregon, @ Arizona St., Bye, @ UCLA, @ Washington, Cal, USC, @ Utah

MacIntyre needs to win the first three and hope for an upset or two the rest of the way. Colorado State and Central Arkansas are winnable...Fresno will be a tough game. Three or four wins would be a nice improvement over last season.

Between players transfering, injuries, and other stupid things that seem to plague Colorado Football, 3 wins would be a good season for them in 2013. The two teams that I pity are Stanford and Waashington State, who do not play Colorado and lose an automatic conference win this season.

For MacIntyre to turn things around...he's got to do a better job of recruiting than what's gone on in the past. Colorado was last in the Pac-12 in recruiting in 2011 and 2013, next to last in 2010 and 8th in 2012 out of a 12 team league.

Last recruiting cycle, the Buffalos did not recruit one 5-star or 4-star rated player. Out of 19 recruits, 13 were rated 3-star and 6 were 2-star or lower. Colorado needs players before they turn things around.
