Former Florida State QB visits Auburn
Former Seminole quarterback Clint Trickett was reportedly in Auburn yesterday meeting with the Tigers coaching staff. Trickett announced his impending transfer following spring practice on April 18. Trickett, a junior, is expected to complete his degree at Florida State in May and will be able to transfer to an FBS school without sitting out a year, meaning he could figure into Auburn's QB race in August and not next spring. He will have two years of eligibility remaining. If he chooses the Auburn, the Tiger quarterback race could get a lot more interesting in the fall. He was Florida State's second team QB last season.

I like Clint Trickett. Decent arm, smart, and has had his father's experience help build him as a player. That being said, even if he wins the starting QB role in Auburn, he's short on skilled receivers, vulnerable in protection from a poor OL, and doesn't have the frame to absorb punishment from aggressive SEC defenses. Definitely a tough road for him to choose. He would probably be better off transferring to a non-SEC program that had a team with a more experienced roster where he would really be able to show what he can do, rather than having to work extra hard just to overcome the existing team's deficiencies.

Gotta think that with Auburn hiring FSU's QB coach, Auburn will get Trickett if they want him, and he'll have at least one coach's strong support for the starting job.

The kid stepped up when he had too, good pick up for Auburn. But you gotta hold your breath every time he gets hit, he is like 180lbs dripping wet!

If Trickett does land at Auburn, as mentioned above, the reason would be Dameyune Craig who was quarterback coach at Florida State the past three years. I think he was also recruiting coordinator...not positive.

Craig is from Alabama, played QB for Auburn and one prime coach Malzahn targeted after becoming head coach. He is listed as co-offensive coordinator.

You got to think Craig sees something in Trickett for Auburn to have any interest. Guess we will know in the next few days.

I heard on a local sports radio show this afternoon that Trickett was heading to South Florida. BJ Daniel is gone and the Bulls need a quarterback. Any of you Nole fans heard this?

Not a peep out of Auburn on the Tigers degree of interest.
