Florida State Spring Game

Redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston threw a long touchdown pass on his first play at Florida State's spring game yesterday. Winston went on to complete 12 of 15 passes for 205 yards and 3 scores. Clint Trickett, also competing to be the starting QB, completed 22 of 32 for 259 yards while playing on both teams as the Gold defeated the Garnet 40-24. Kenny Shaw caught 12 passes for 205 yards and Roberto Aguayo kicked 5 field goals, including one from 58 yards. No number given on announced crowd.

In a surprise move...junior quarterback Clint Trickett announced yesterday that he would be transferring from Florida State. Trickett entered spring practice at the top of the depth chart and was in a tough battle with Jameis Winston for the starting QB job. Trickett started 2 games in 2011, played in 8 games in 2012, and has completed 66 of 106 passes for 947 yards and 7 touchdowns in 17 games for the Noles. He is on track to complete his degree, meaning he can transfer to another FBS school without having to sit out a year.

I don't know for sure, but my guess is he came out of spring drills as the number two quarterback. His dad is the offensive line coach for the Noles. I'll be interested to see where he lands because he is a pretty good QB.
