Tennessee Vols Team Total wins over 8.5 (+137)

Any feedback would be appreciated. I'm thinking about putting a little on it. If not for Phil Fullmer, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

i can definately see this vols team rebounding from last years injury riden season winning 9 games at best.

they do have 4 really tough games this year, and should be able to win at least one of them to get those 9 wins they need for you to win this wager.

As usual, I can't agree more. The question is: will Fulmer let the boys play instead of pulling back the reigns all the time? If he'll loosen up the offense a little bit, this team could be awesome in my opinion. I think they are the most talented in the East and should win it. The problem is that Spurrier is in the East and Fullmer's butthole tightens up to the size of a microbe when he plays Spurrier and the Vols play at Columbia this year. If they win all their home games, they can beat Memphis and Vandy on the road. The Cal and Florida home game could be dicey.

I like it but, I agree, Fulmer is the wildcard. I say sail him and Lloyd Carr in a boat to sea and bring them back when football season is over. Repeat each football season.

That is an excellent number. I'm looking for a very good season out of the Vols especially considering that Ainge will be able to play without continuously looking over his shoulder. If he had been afforded that luxury last year then their season would not have been the debacle it turned out to be.

That's a really good point. I think Schaeffer's departure will serve both he and Ainge very well.

On another note, in my original post, I posted the wrong line. It should have read +127.

Sounds good to me. I think Tennessee will rebound on the poor season they had last year. If not, Phil Fulmar should get the boot.

Personally, I think the Vols are one of the most overrated teams in college football. They were highly rated heading into last season and only won five games. That being said, I think it's a decent wager particularly because of the odds. Just keep it small...

I think Tennesse has a tough opener in California. They also face Florida week three. But their first four games are at home and their first road matchup is Memphis, so they reasonably could be 4-1 following their first five games. Then the schedule looks very daunting. Georgia, Alabama, SC on the road, LSU and Arkansas on the road. But they close out with Vanderbilt and Kentucky, so if they can manage to win two of those five during that tough stretch, they could finish with nine wins. But that's the main problem I'd have with this bet is that I see 9 wins as being the most they will get. There is very little room for error and with Tennessee, who lost to Vanderbilt last year, and with Fulmer at the helm, there is a strong likelihood of error -- a good chance they will lose one or two games they "should" win.

Probably a good rule. Personally, I think it's very hard to move them off the 9 win number. Looking for them to be favored in every contest except Florida and LSU. PF knows how to F up a good thing, though!

I think Tennessee will be favored over LSU, I could be wrong. The other game that they could be a dog is at Arkansas.

I also played the Vols to win the SEC at +1285, for a little under half a unit. I'd have them the second favorite, and there's no way I'm taking Auburn at +241, so...

When they spliced the College and Pro Football forums, they put this one in the wrong one.

Off to a good start. Along with USC and Auburn, Tennessee was as impressive as anyone.

After that California game, you got to feel pretty good about these bets Razz. They looked great in that game.

The real test is when they get into conference play. Only time will tell if they choke or not.
