    Weis out at ND?
I have a buddy in South Bend who called the Willingham firing the morning before it was announced.

He sent me off a note today that said Weis is out at ND, with the announcement coming after the USC game.

More to this, the reason Brian Kelly has put Tennessee on hold is because ND contacted him last week.

ND is turning over every stone too.

Tedford and Gruden are names being thrown around.

It may not shake out, but I thought it was interesting enough to see what you guys thought.

I hope part of your story is wrong. I really wish Brian Kelly would stay at UC. I don't know if he will though. I lean towards him leaving

Losing to an 8 loss team at home that had just fired their head coach when you're a 20 point favorite is NOT a way to stay employed.

The word is that if it wasn't going to cost ND upwards of 10 million to get away from CW that his fat ass would already be gone. Even at a place like ND, in this economy 10 million is a LOT of money.

Now, if they go out to Southern Cal and get absolutely obliterated...I mean like 55-7 kinda beat down, I think they may be having a back sale in South Bend to scrounge up 10 million dollars! LOL

His first year was quite good. Remember that game against USC when he let the grass grow to slow down Reggie Bush? The game that ended with Bush pushing Leinart into the endzone for the win...

Weis functions best at a pro level, where the talent is a given. His weakness is recruiting. He should go back to the pros as OC.

I hope Weis is out, i really do! Reason: I am so sick of all the speculation and hand-wringing about his job. Fire his ass already, and get Lou Holtz in there.

He'll end up back in the NFL... Its like Colin says hes not a #1, look most of the top college football programs and look at the head coach Urban Meyer, Saban, Mark Richt, Mack Brown, Pete Carrol, Stoops, Ron Zook etc,... The list could go on and on They all look the same all are In shape, Charismatic, and good recruiters. Fat Charlie not so much.

listening to his press conference yesterday it appears to me that he is continuing to remain overconfident in both his team's ability as well as his ability as a coach...

Are you suggesting that the recruits he gets do not pan out? Because one could make an argument that has to do with his coaching ability rather than his recruits talents level.

Notre Dame's recruiting class rankings since he arrived:
                                    2006: 8th
                                    2007: 8th
                                    2008: 2nd
                                    2009: 10th (so far)

I think that Class of 2008 gives Notre Dame a reason to let Weis stay one more year at the head coaching spot. 2nd in the nation right behind Saban's class. If you don't start seeing results from these players as sophomores, then you likely never will.
