    Chip Kelly and the math
Interesting article on Chip Kelly and the math of going for it on 4th and short, possession, 2 pt conversions and onside kicks.

Might be nice to remember when capping, if Bama meets Ducks in Championship.

Good find, read ESPN BMOC every week it discusses the high school coach who goes for it on almost every 4th down.

Thanks for posting. I'd argue that Chip Kelly doesn't follow his usual strategy of 'being aggressive' when playing against teams like LSU or Alabama. He never went for it on 4th down or went for 2 against LSU last year. Just something to consider.

Yep. Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas. Not "almost" every 4th down but EVERY 4th down no matter where the ball is. No kickers on the team. Lol

It's about statistical & mathematical advantage. With his offense against those terrible pac 12 Ds, he would have the edge everytime on 4th & short. Perhaps not always the case against an LSU or Bama D.
It is a smart calculated approach, not riverboat gambler shit like what u see from Miles.

I love Oregon for this reason, however I fail to see the correlation to the NFL.
Other than a 4th & inches situation NFL defenses are too fast too big and too smart to give up 4th & 3..4..or longer consistently
I can see alot of lost games by an NFL team not coverting at a very high rate and turning the ball over on downs in their own end.

It works in college because the overall depth of defenses arent built to stuff the run consistentently and theres more posessions in College ball due to the clock stopping on all 1st downs

Here's a prime example ... does the option play work in the NFL ?

I love it in college ball though
