    GEORGIA -28 v KENTUCKY - Line Confusion
    Noob questions ahead.

Help me understand the Georgia/Kentucky line please?

I understand you have to look at certain stats (e.g. yards per carry, 3rd down conversion) & Georgia is a clear favorite coing off a bye week.

But, both teams played South Carolina. Georgia got beat by 28 and Kentucky by 21. With Georgia as a 28 point favorite, their performances against South Carolina don't seem to matter. Is it a mistake to look at how future competitors performed against the same team?? (All things being relatively equal, e.g. key players injured)

This line is way too high. It would right on a money if it was a roadgame for Kentucky. They will not be blown out at home by GA. I guess the line so high must be influenced by the fact that Kentucky took beating from Arkansas who has been a pushover this year but now is coming back to life. Kentucky though is very different team at home. GA will win this game by 20 . Kentucky +28 is the pick

Thanks SportsMozart. I suppose Kentucky's loss to Ark is being given considerable weight. I agree, 28 is an uncomfortable amount of points to lay on the road against Kentucky. Thought I must be missing some key factors.... and just not understand much about how the lines are developed. (Both easily true).

love kentucky +28. A Mark Richt coached team is not going to blow out any team on the road by 28.

Kentucky is extremely thin in the secondary due to injuries. 3 safetys are questionable, 1 safety and 1 cornerback are doubtful as well. Arkansas managed to throw up 375 yards passing in a little over one half. Dawgs coming off a bye looking to get back on track after the thumping they took from S Carolina.

Only thing going for the Cats is that they have played UGA tough the past few meetings and UGA could be looking ahead to the Cocktail Party. I say stay away, this one has the potential to get out of hand.

Thanks UT. In my own little notes I wrote, "georgia had a bye week after losing to such carolina 35-7 (embarrassed!)".

I see now I wrote "such" carolina... sloppy notes.

Didn't realize Kentucky had so many injuries. Line beginning to make more sense. I'm not playing this line, or teasing it, or anything... Interested to see how this game plays out.

                I see...

"Jalen Whitlow is likely to get his third consecutive start for the Wildcats.Whitlow was rated by Scout.com as the No. 57 quarterback prospect in the 2012 class. That’s behind another Kentucky freshman, Patrick Towles, at No. 33. Towles is showing improvement from a high ankle sprain but is considered doubtful for Saturday. They have been pushed into action this season after sophomore Maxwell Smith, who completed 68.7 percent of his passes for 975 yards and eight touchdowns, sustained a torn left ankle ligament against South Carolina. Whitlow has started the past two games — both losses — 27-14 to Mississippi State and 49-7 to Arkansas."
