At Minnesota, Jerry Kill is 4-1 ATS as a home underdog. Minnesota has had an extra week to prepare and get healthy. That may be helpful, because they gave up 7.3 yards per carry to a struggling Iowa offense, and they definately need extra time to figure things out if they want to try and stop Colter and this NW offense that is averaging 231 rushing yards per game (16th in the country). Pat Fitzgerald is only 3-7 ATS as an away favorite. The turnover margin (4 to 0) killed Minnesota in their last game against Iowa, and inflated the score to 31-13. Minnesota has been up and down so much in recent years, it just depends which team shows up. You have to think they would be ready to go at home following a bye week. Northwestern is in a bounce back spot following that tough loss at Penn State and having to go on the road again.

I'm not saying Northwestern (-3) is a bad play at all. I'm just trying to play devils advocate and provide some contrast.

I agree that NW has the talent to do it. Especially after noticing that Minn has given up 7.3 ypc to Iowa, 4.5 ypc to UNLV, and 4.3ypc to pass-happy Western Mich. Look for Northwestern to run the ball down their throats and control the game that way.

Yup Gonna see a LOT of 2nd and 2....I think NW is a pretty solid team...better players, coaches, more to play for ect.....everything about it.....people that dont know these teams could pick Minn-3 @ home..other than that ALL I see is NW action

I like this one too. Thanks for the other side mrsolo. Just curious, how far back do those ATS numbers go? They're definitely a factor but I find their relevance has a very short shelf life and I tend to disregard if older than a few years.

Yeah, I agree that trends should be taken with a grain of salt definitely. Last year was Jerry Kill's first season with the Gophers so it includes four games last year and two this year. I should note that Minnesota is also 3-2 straight up in those games, despite being an underdog in every game. Minny likes to play well at home, but that's only one piece of the puzzle. I don't think this matchup bodes well for the Gophers (defensively at least) like I said before.

um, Im not taking either side in this game (never watched minn, dont really pay attention to em, i focus on powerhouse teams b/c those are games I like to watch) but I watched the entire penn state/nw game very closely (had money on penn state) and northwestern had no chance in hell to win this game, the only reason they had lead coming in to half was bc of worst pass interference call Ive ever seen in my life, literally. not disagreeing with pick. just correcting your anaylsis of penn st/nw....penn states got a good team though,

I watched that game too, they were up 11 going into the 4th quarter. The first TD of the 22 unanswered came on a 4th down conversion. How is that not having a chance in hell? I realize they caught a break with the pass interference and the punt return at the end of the third, but they were leading by double digits heading into the fourth.

because penn state dominated that game on defense, it was evident thruout the game. northwesterns had one good respectable drive in 3rd quarter, the one right before 1st half should have been a punt if it werent for that pass interference call, they didnt have a chance in hell because they couldnt move the ball on offense, meanwhile penn state moved the ball at will

3 80 yard drives, and 2 40 yard drives for TDs kinda agree with me, meanwhile northwestern had 7 drives they couldnt manage more than 7 yards, but I agree with you penn state has a solid team
