Tuesday Night Special:
Miami-Ohio @ Buffalo -9
Expect Buffalo to be a very heavy public favorite in this contest. Normally we fade public perception but in this case that would be a bad idea. Buffalo simply beats the teams they are supposed to beat and plays the teams they are supposed to be beat by very tough. Miami-Ohio is one of the teams Buffalo is supposed to beat. Buffalo 41-27
Saturdays Line-up:
Arkansas @ South Carolina -10
I caution you this should be a small play if you choose to follow.
South Carolina has already qualified for a bowl game opportunity. More importantly they have a huge showdown next weekend against Florida in the Swamp. I don’t expect them to lose this game but I would not be surprised if they were slightly less than super focused. While Arkansas isn’t in the upper levels of the SEC they have gotten better the past couple of weeks and even when looking bad they did score some points. Look for them to score enough here to keep it under the number. South Carolina 27-23
Penn State -7.5 @ Iowa
Penn State is getting very little respect. Partially because of the teams they have faced this season and mainly because of how Ohio State has been such a disappointment in the previous two National Title games. I think people are allowing the perception of the conference to overshadow the quality of this Penn State team. They are a solid complete team in every aspect of the game. If you watch the performance of the team and not solely focus on the quality of the opponent you will see that they execute extremely well. How well they would match up with the speed of an SEC team or the size of a Big 12 team doesn’t matter yet. What does matter is in a conference like the Big 10 they are hands down the elite this season. Expect to see a very focused Penn State team this Saturday come out and lay a beat down on Iowa. Penn State 45-3
Alabama -3 @ LSU
Alabama is another team that everyone seems to doubt. Well it’s either doubt of fear, not sure which it is the most. I can understand the fear aspect because they are one solid complete team. Not flashy by any means. They don’t have a quarterback that can win it on his own. They don’t have a back that can carry the team on his back. They don’t have a receiver that is drawing national attention. They do have maybe the best offensive and defensive lines in the nation. They do have a solid team defense. They do have a quarterback with experience who doesn’t force the issue and get his team in trouble. They do have backs that run hard and hold on to the football. They are a complete team whose only weakness is in the special team’s area.
LSU is by no means a bottom feeder in the SEC. They aren’t the contenders of old either. While they aren’t as bad as the two bad beatings they took at Florida or against Georgia they are still not a superior team. I don’t expect this to be a blowout but should never really be in doubt either. Alabama 27-10
