No experience on American football but I'm playing soccer. Tackles are done instinctively, regardless of running direction. It's the "the other team has it" instinct kicking in.

not sure about this man....I promise you are every bit of animal as the rest of us.....yes not everything we do is based off of instinct, we do use reason, but I would be slow to elevate myself as less animal than someone else.
