This is the first thread I've posted on SBR, but I've lurked and learned a lot from this forum in the past. I typically stick to college football, but after the success I've had with betting baseball this year, I decided to start posting my plays to get others inputs and maybe help some people out as well. I'll update this thread daily for the remainder of the season with my picks and a little info as to why.

Risk-30u To Win-41u
903 Washington Nationals -140* 4u
- This is my favorite pick of the day for several reasons. First off, Gonzalez is one of the best pitchers in the MLB with 18 wins and is facing the Mets 0-1 rookie McHugh. The only advantage for the Mets is playing at home, which has been more of a disadvantage for them this season, coming off a sweep from the Braves, losing the last 5 home games against the Nationals, and not mention being ranked last in the National League in batting at home. The only disadvantage for the Nationals is the 8-0 loss to the Marlins today, but they scored a combined 43 runs in the 5 games prior to that, which makes me confident they will pull off a W and also leads me to my next pick.
903 Washington Nationals/New York Mets Over 7½ +105* 3u
908 Houston Astros -107* 3u
- I was born and raised in Houston as a LAstros fan, and would almost always call someone crazy for not betting against them, but this is the one game I have confidence in them pulling out a W. The Astros have a little fire under them after winning the series against the 1st place Reds, and I'm expecting them to keep it going back home. The Astros have Keuchel on the mound who is 1-3 at home with a 5.54 ERA, but the Cubs are in even worse shape starting Volstad who is 0-5 on the road with a 6.23 ERA. Taking into account that the Astros beat the Cubs 10-1 last time they faced Volstad, and the high ERAs of both pitchers, not only do I feel confident in taking the Astros, but also a small play on the over.
907 Chicago Cubs/Houston Astros Over 8½ +100* 1.5u
916 Chicago White Sox -106* 2u
- I've noticed that a lot of people are taking Detroit for this game, and there are plenty of reasons to back that decision. Its a tough choice and will be a good game, but I feel there is just more evidence in favor of the Sox. The Sox have been playing fairly poor over the last few weeks, and Quintana (3.68 ERA) on the mound leaves a lot to be desired, but the Tigers have also been in a slump and have the 4.58 ERA Porcello pitching who has lost his last 5 starts. The deciding factor for me is the Sox are at home where they are 41-29 this season, as opposed to the Tigers who are 30-38 on the road. With the Sox being only 2 games ahead of the Tigers for first in their division, I think Chicago will buckle down and pull off a W. In addition, the poor pitching combined with the heated race for the pennant, I'm going to make a small play on the over.
915 Detroit Tigers/Chicago White Sox Over 9½ -110* 1.5u
906 Cincinnati Reds -164* 3u
- There isn't much to be said about this match up with both teams coming off of losing series to two of the worst teams in baseball. The Pirates, however, have been playing below average for a few weeks now, and I think they will ultimately fall short to the better team. With the Pirates desperate for a wild card spot, I'm expecting a little more fire behind the bats in this game and trends show the over is more probable, so I decided to make a small play on the over.
905 Pittsburgh Pirates/Cincinnati Reds Over 7½ -125* 2u
902 Philadelphia Phillies -141* 2u
- Originally I wanted to take Miami because of the value, but Philly brings a lot more to the table after looking further into it. Phillies have won 7 of the last 10, while the Marlins have lost 6 of the last 10. The Marlins have Leblanc on the mound who is new to the starting rotation, while the Phillies have Kyle Kendrick on the mound, who is 4-1 with a 1.53 ERA in his last 5 starts in addition to being 7-0 against the Marlins. I think its pretty safe to say the Marlins are outgunned in this match up.
917 Cleveland Indians/Minnesota Twins Under 9 -125* 2u
- I wish I would have slammed this when it was at 9.5, but I still think 9 is a lock this game. Despite 2 games of this series far surpassing 9 runs, this game will be a battle of the pitchers. Masterson only gave up 2 runs in his last start against Detroit, and Deduno has only given up a total of 2 runs in his last 2 starts. Both teams are average-below average ranked in hitting, and I would be surprised if the total runs passed 7.
914 San Diego Padres +104* 1.5u
- I decided to make a small play on this because of the little added value and it looking like a coin flip. The Cardinals are the better team in my opinion, but a couple things put me in favor of the padres. The Padres are 5-1 with Stults on the mound have won 6 of their last home games. The Cards have been playing poor the last few games, and are 1-6 with Garcia starting on the road. It will likely be a low scoring game, and I think the Padres have a good shot at coming out on top.
On top of these picks I have a few parlays that I put together based on my research and studying other peoples picks just to add a little excitement.
