    I lost??
I had Tampa Bay +162 last night, but now my account is showing that I have lost the bet. I was thinking cool, my bet has improved since the line was now at +145 for the resumed game. Then I looked and it's showing I have lost. Maybe they'll fix it, maybe there is some other explanation where I really have lost the bet. HaHa! I am only doing very small wagers, but I would like to know if somebody has any info about a loss, or maybe an error on the page that will be fixed.

if the game is suspended they go back to the last full inning which was the 5th. at the end of the 5th it was 2-1 phillies....phillies money line gets cashed, rays ML is a loss.

That was the old rule, are you saying for sure that all the sportsbooks are paying Philadelphia and losing Tampa Bay bets for last night? Doesn't make sense if the game goes on, but I suppose that could be true, so do you definitely know that it is true? Thanks for the info.

        " WORLD SERIES GRADING
Official grading for last night's game was a win for Philadelphia, with all trades on totals, runlines and live markets pushed. No action will carry over to tomorrow's game."

I found this on one site, but I wonder if I am the only one surprised by this. I probably would never have know about the ruling if I had not made a last second bet on Tampa Bay (am doing almost only hockey betting, but am a big baseball fan.) You want to think that MLB set it up just to show somebody in gambling that they are totally illegal. Well, glad I found out about this, wonder if I will be reading more.. makes me think of the Black Sox scandal, but it's the commissioner's office who got paid off this time.

Lol, no scandal wannabet. Just a case of bad luck. If this was a regular season game you would have lost. If you want to find blame in something, blame "Mother Nature". I doubt Bud Selig had anything to do with you losing your bet.

There were several posts about this last night. Really unfortunate for all the Rays backers!

I don't know, bettors might be missing that they changed the rule to go back to the start of the inning to change the score of a game. It had been changed to they would not go back to the start of the last completed innning, I believe that is true for any regular season game as well. The books didn't change it when MLB changed it apparently. That's the surprising part, all these years it had correlated with MLB scoring, and now it doesn't. I would just assume that books would stick to the rules of the game, not outdated rules that might for some reason be more convenient for them. No, I'm not bitter I lost my bet because it's nearly in the freeroll range, and I assume that all bettors would know that those rules applied. *I'm not sure when they changed the rule in MLB, not to revert to the last completed inning, sometime earlier this year I believe. Maybe I would be a little bitter because that's the only bet I have placed on baseball all year, and I bet it simply because I didn't think Tampa Bay would let the series end that night. I could still be proven wrong if they lose, but now if I'm wrong or not that's irrelevant. There are lots of freebees with my bookmaker, maybe I can get a mulligan if I ask them, you know they want you to keep playing, and it wouldn't phase them at all for a couple of $$.

In all books the rules state this rule clearly goes back the 5th inning score if home team is ahead,I lost too.

The rule in baseball is that a game is official after 5 innings, so that's why the books will say a bet is official after 5 innings. In baseball they don't always play the full 9 innings because of rain or something. That means the books would score it the same way the MLB would score it. You would think they would stay consistent with the MLB, which is why they say it's official after 5 innings. This would be the only time on record that a game has been official on the books, but not in the actual league that the game is played in. Unless there is another example, I just can't think of any reason there would be another example of something similar to that situation.

Oh I just got one more thing to say on the topic, I guess it finally makes sense to me how they scored it a loss for Tampa Bay ML.

point 1)The rules of betting are slightly different than the rules of the MLB on suspended games. betting reverts it (like MLB did prior to 1980), and MLB won't revert it to take away runs scored by the away team in the top half of an inning.

point 2) the game was officially "suspended" suspended games normally are not resumed, so this game normally would be over, but they made an alteration prior to the game saying they wouldn't permit shortened world series games. they key is that it was an officially suspended game.

Even ESPN is talking about this. I never thought I would see an ESPN strory about baseball gambling.
