    New York Yankees
    -Look to complete their ninth series sweep of the season, tying their total from last year
    -Gone 25-15 against left-handed starters this year, best winning percentage (.625) in the AL and fourth-best in the majors
    -Won 11 of their last 12 regular season games against the Rangers at this ballpark
    -Posted a 23-13 daytime record
    -Third baseman are hitting .408 with seven HRs since Alex Rodriguez landed on the 15-day disabled list
    -SS Derek Jeter leads the AL with a .374 batting average versus lefties
    -SP Ivan Nova is 7-1 with a 4.13 ERA in nine career August starts
    -Nova is 1-1 with a 8.10 ERA in two home efforts against the Rangers

    Texas Rangers
    -The Rangers are 15-15 since the All-Star break
    -Josh Hamilton’s two solo HRs on Wednesday represent the team’s entire run production in the last 25 innings of the series

      Pittsburgh Pirates

      -SP A.J. Burnett has posted a 4-2 record and 2.58 ERA in six starts since the All-Star break
