The worst call ever in MLB

For the record I had no money on this game, in a free wagerline MLB contest I had the Ray's tonight .
I was watching the Auburn game and switching back and forth every break. 2nd inning Baldelli at the plate, 1 runner on, 1 out. 3-2 pitch by Myers, looked like it caught the outside of the plate. Baldelli check swings, looked like he went but the pitch and swing looked borderline. Umpire Danley calls him out but for some reason looks to the 1st base ump for clarification on the swing....after the out call???? Myers asked what was the pitch called? Ball or Strike?
These umpires are calling the World Series, they are supposed to be the best of the best, right?
Shit happens sometimes but this led to a run by the Rays that should not have been. I didn't see the Rollins HBP, but this type of stuff should not go on in the WS. Send the guys back to AAA

Denkinger call cost STL the WS in '85. Have to agree that it was by far worse than any call thus far in the '08 WS.

Bad call, no doubt. Having umpired some along the way, the bang-bang plays at first were always the toughest. Would also direct attention to Game 4 of the NLCS when Houston caught the wrong end of two calls that could've changed game and given them win (they were up 2-1 in the old best-of-five format entering that game). Jerry Crawford later admitted the crew mucked up at least one of the calls on what should've been a triple play by Houston in the fourth inning of that one. The six who called that series -- Crawford, Doug Harvey, Ed Vargo, Bob Engel, Terry Tata and Bruce Froemming -- will never be forgotten by Astros fans.

That is completely different from what took place. How many strikes could be called balls and how many balls could be called strikes. Thats just baseball. However, to call a batter out and then appeal to first after the fact that the ump rung him up is on a completely different level.

Exactly.. This call was almost as worse as the ref who tackled the QB from South Carolina..
