Jason "The Stopper" Vargas Goes for the Mariners
Not a big fan of the line movement that's occurred early on in the Royals/Mariners matchup, but sometimes it's just a numbers game.

    • Seattle Mariners SP Jason Vargas is 3-0 with a 1.55 ERA in four starts this month, the sixth-best July ERA in baseball
    • Vargas is 3-0 with a 2.50 ERA in his last three starts against the Royals
    • When taking the mound after a team loss in 13 of his 21 starts this year, Vargas has compiled a 9-2 record and 2.91 ERA
    • Bullpen has a 2.19 ERA since June 1

I'm busy putting together my College Football Preseason Handicapping Report, but the Mariners look like a potential winner on Thursday night's card

"The Stopper"? Who the hell calls him that?

Dude has had a pretty good streak.
      Not the greatest though.

This game is about who can small ball for a win. Scratching a run late.

Correct statement right there - but all offenses go to die at Safeco

Simply using a cliche my friend, it's definitely not pro wrestling on an MLB mound

The Mariners offense has been the issue at Safeco Field but the pitching has certainly held its own with a 3.13 ERA, sixth best in baseball. Seattle has won five straight games following a loss.

Pitching at home has been even better as he has a 2.84 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in eight starts, six of which have been quality outings. Overall he is riding a five-game quality start streak as well as posting three straight quality starts against the Royals, all resulting in Seattle wins.

Not sure what the stat vs KC has do to with anything he's in Bal right?

When's the last time he was in a hitters park @ Arz months ago and he got killed.

Not disrespecting as I enjoy your input just playing devils advocate.

Was thinking about the under but hate U in Bal.
