At first glance, this game can be deceiving. Until I calculated Myer's road era and whip since july 23, the date he got called back up, I thought Myers was a terrible road pitcher.

Since July 23, Myers has a road ERA of 4.09 and a road whip of 1.16 in 7 games. That isn't too much worse than James Shields. +145 seems a little high for a team that certainly has the bullpen and offense to win this game. What I like most about Myers tonight is that not too many rays batters have faced him. Willy Aybar is 2 for 6 and Cliff Floyd is 12 for 33.

The only other current Rays to face him are: Gabe Gross 0-1, Carlos Pena 0-3, Dioner Navarro 0-3. Other than that, he should be able to silence Upton and Longoria.

James Shields' splits are about even this season, but, historically, he has been a bit worse against righthanders than against lefties ... intriguing, lineupwise, since the Phillies' Greg Dobbs is baseball's best pinch-hitter and is inferior to Pedro Feliz at third base. So, instead of stacking his lineup with lefties, Charlie Manuel could, in good conscience, keep both Dobbs and Geoff Jenkins on the bench as weapons, since Matt Stairs likely will DH.

Based on this little scouting report, I would do under 8.5 and Phils +145
