Why has Octavio Dotel bounced around so much?
Tigers turned their season around the second this cat got back into their bullpen rotation. Fact.

He won a ring with the Cardinals last year and is pitching well for Detroit this season. Not flawless but the guy can get the big strikeout when needed. Fvcking mowed through the White Sox today in a relatively close game.

Bullpens are so bad these days, yet this guy's bounced from team to team his entire career. Why?

For as hard as it is to find quality relievers, I'd think some of these teams would spend a fortune to get them.

Fans arent exactly paying to see 1 inning shutouts. Dotel had been doing his job, what's to say he will continue this pace? He looks very hittable from where I lok

He's never going to be totally lights out, but who would you rather have in your pen? Brandon Lyon? Chad Qualls? You have to consider how shallow the talent pool is.

Who gives a shit about what fans want to see. Good relievers = winning baseball. Bad relievers = losing baseball.

Bullpens are where teams cut cost, so they can afford the overpaid 3rdbaseman/1stbaseman/closer.

              That's right Houly.
Octavio is a hired gun. Mercenary of the game.

Edwin Jackson is kind of like that as a starter. A quality starter that gets leveraged around.

In a way, most guys are hired guns.
It's part of the reason why these guys are trying to get 'no-trade' clauses.
Look what happened to Jered Weaver last year-dude took less $ to stay in one place.
