Betting Novice wants to get better. Any tips?
I'm looking for tips on baseball betting. I don't bet as big as some people say they do on here, but I would like to learn a little. Any useful tips out there from the good people of SBR?

Dont lay big juice!! Risk is not worth the reward. Look for value in the lines. And above all else, bankroll management will keep you going for the long run.

I have about $2,200 right now. Max bet is $100, but i usually stay around $20 a bet. Not big, but one percent seems like good BRM.

If you are new or anywhere close to new, you can't go wrong with steady 1-3% wager discipline. If you are doing this and not letting yourself slip for the action, then I would say you are already ahead of the game if you are new. Well done. Also of course this implies - no chasing, ever.

That is half the equation, the other half is picking winners! I am still relatively new to this myself, but at an introductory level I would say:

Keep a complete record of every wager. You probably already know this.

Keep a close eye on WHIP in addition to ERA.

Aim to be selective in the games you bet each day. This could be 1-2 games, or 6-7 games, as long as you have a high level of conviction for every wager.

I often find that betting the team total is a better value than a side. Always look at these for each matchup just like you would look at the ML/RL odds and game total.

Think hard about laying more chalk than -125 on any wager. If you like a big favorite, look at the -1.5 or -1 instead of the ML. Personally I prefer the -1 rather than -1.5 most of the time.

Always check the umpire stats before wagering.

Always check the weather. I use this one:
daily baseball, weather, baseball contest, daily contest, baseball lineup, baseball matchup, ballpark weather, draftstreet, daily joust, draftbug, snapdraft, fantasy sports live, baseball betting, baseball analysis, fanduel, daily baseball stats, weekly contest, weekly baseball

I look forward to seeing advice from more experienced MLB handicappers here. Best of luck.
