    Yankees trade for Chad Qualls

NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Yankees have acquired reliever Chad Qualls from the Philadelphia Phillies for a player to be named or cash.

The Yankees made the deal Sunday during their game against the Chicago White Sox. The Phillies designated the right-hander for assignment Wednesday.

Qualls was 1-1 with a 4.60 ERA in a team-high 35 appearances for the Phillies.

Qualls is not worth the plane ticket it will cost to get from Philly to NY.

Phillies are garbage lookin like sellers come trade deadline. I see Victorino and Hamels on the trading block now. Dlunc should be in here saying they are still the team to beat in the NL in 3.2.1

yea, we should expect more from a team without their 3 and 4 hitters, without their entire pen, and without arguably the best pitcher in baseball

idk what the yanks are thinking... this guy is the worst reliever in baseball

the window is starting to close for the phils, i think they've just got to accept they had bad luck this year and start the rebuild.

utley will never be as productive as he was in 2008/09 when he was undoubtedly the best second basemen in the game
halladay is no longer the best pitcher in the game and most probably never will be again with all the young guys coming up (strasburg/kershaw)

phils have a shockingly poor farm and far too many bloated contracts (papelbon for $50 million is ridiculous), it wouldnt be a bad decision to move hamels and get a boatload of prospects in return

no your are absolutely right.. sucks that injuries had to plague this season (as you said, window is almost closed)...

                  rollins
                  peirre
                  utley
                  howard
                  pence
                  victorino
                  ruiz
                  polanco

to go along with doc, cole and lee...

that is still a pretty nasty lineup with three nasty pitchers (not to mention a solid bench and solid 4 starter in worley)..

gotta hope as a fan that these guys still have another run left in em, even if it is next yr... seems more and more that cole won't be part of it though and you might be right.. that could be the best thing as this farm is empty

                  oh well.. go eagles haha

Qualls is so damn bad, why the hell would a major league team, especially the yankees want him. He can't handle any pressure, just letting the rays pile it on... He should only be used when a team is up by tons of runs, or down by so many they cant even win. Just give him meaningless innings.

guy has been minor league material for three years. Yankees scouts out did themselves here. Kep up the hard work men.

                              Some things never change.

How this guy is still in the league, I have no idea.

                                  At the moment, yes.

Tomorrow it'll probably be someone else. He's pitched for like 22 teams.
