    Gio Gonzalez....Cy young
Just have to make this prediction since I recently read someone talking shit about him saying he's not an ACE, not a #1 pitcher, and saying he's "due" for regression.

    we will see .....

just need to draw my line in the sand, I BACK GIO!

Last series vs Philly, strasburg was down 3 runs to Kendrick... It took a blown save by the pen to get a win for wash

nationals didn't have zimmerman and laroche. also, the bullpen is factoring into that decision is well. i was referring to action

and right now, Gio is pitching better than Strasburg. not by much, but giving up less hits per inning and more Ks per inning.

Nothing wrong with 22 walks vs. 69 strikeouts in 54 innings.

Gio is having a great year thus far. Why is Gio effective:

                            1. He is 92-95 and when he gets runners on he really bears down with his best stuff.

                            2. That overhand curveball he has with the great arm speed and tremendous downward tilt is really wrapped tight. For any of you guys that played you know how a tight overhand curve ball coming out of the same arm slot with great arm speed is tough to hit. When you put it with 92-95 it is so hard to stay back and the best most hitters can do is foul it off which results in Gio setting hitters up and staying ahead in the count.

                            3. Gio can fall behind hitters and get foul balls on challenge fast balls. Getting foul balls when behind in the count gives him more wiggle room for error. A typical major league fastball of 88-90 MUST be located especially when behind in the count or it will be deposited in the seats.

                            4. Teams that have a lot of left handed sticks with no right handed platoon options are in trouble. Take a team like the Seattle Mariners- They would not matchup very well at all.

                            5. The lineup for the Nats look forward to Gio's turn on the bump because they know he is gonna hold opponents down and give them a very solid chance to win each time he pitches. Scoring just 1 or 2 runs might be enough to get a W. The bullpen is also happy since he takes the ball and goes deep into games which preserves the arms in the pen. Over the course of the season this has a big effect.
