May be the best pitcher in baseball that nobody talks about. Follow him while he's a secret.

I think he now leads the NL in strikeouts. 60 strikeouts in 48.2 innings vs. only 19 walks. He has a 2.22 ERA and 0.99 WHIP and he allowed his first home run of the year tonight, so he is neck and neck with Greinke for the best FIP in Majors.

If my math is correct, Greinke is first in FIP by 0.23 over Gio in second. Still, which of those two is still under the radar?

The question is why the dumb Oakland Pathetics gave him away?

My Reds could've had Gio a few years ago when the A's started shopping him but they had to give away the farm for Latos instead. I wanted them to sign Josh Willingham too but they'd rather have a huge hole at cleanup....and who can forget Josh Hamilton for Volquez.

I don't think he is a secret at least from a market perspective. This is his first rotation around the league after his move from the AL. As guys get more familiar with him, his current numbers will regress. However, he will always be a top 3 of the rotation lefty as long as he continues to grow as a pitcher.

Pitching has never been a problem for Oakland. They build up pitching, and trade for hitting. Trading Andrew bailey for Josh Reddick has been a great deal.
