Agreed, but its always easy to say after the fact. Batter up probably had a better chance of laying down a bunt then hitting a long pop fly or getting a base hit.

I agree, it was an awful call, but hindsight is 20/20... we'd talk about how awesome the call was if it worked.

I don't disagree with the call normally, but when you do it when the pitcher just threw two pitches that were no where near the plate........calling it is beyond me. Either the pitcher was extremely wild or the Red Sox were looking for the squeeze. Why do it?? I think the Sox were looking for it considering the announcers called it before it happened.

      Scioscia forced that play.

That's not stupid. It's the way the Angels play ball. They've played that way the whole season. It's always easy to second-guess the manager's call after the fact, but that's just how the Angels play.

what was worse was pitching to Lowrie instead of Varitek.

Why pitch to a hitter with the pitcher's spot on deck?

              Varitek can't hit at all.

Everything aligned for him to to so. Pitcher was behind the count (had to hit the strike zone), great base runner on third and the hitter has bunted well all season in that position.

I thought the Angels played it great. They made the perfect call in that situation, squeezing the runner was the only option.

Giving Lowrie anything to hit with first base open was a far worse decision than trying to pull off the squeeze.
