Johan Santana - Future Bet & Cy Young
There's a sportsbook out their offering Johan Santana at
+1500 to win the Cy Young award. I think if the Mets make the playoffs there will certainly be plenty of votes casted for him considering he leads the NL in innings and ERA. Lincecum, Webb, Dempster and Volquez are all the favorites at minus money. To me only Lincecum and Webb are serious candidates. If Webb does not pitch well tonight, and Lincecum (who has been struggling down the stretch) doesn't pitch well tomorrow, I might just place that bet.

I first noticed this last night and went back to the book right now to see if the odds have changed.

Why not throw some money at those odds?

I'd put a small bet on it, I guess.

Personally, I would go like this:

    1)Lincecum
    2)Santana
    3)Sabathia

hard to know how the voters will go. Unlikely Santana wins it, but at those odds it's worth a small bet.

Haha... Santana should be 5th on any NL CY young talk no higher then that... CC should be 4th no higher... Tim Linceum should win it if his Manager doesnt **** him over and keep him in the game to long...

IMO, Lincecum should win easily, but Sabathia and Santana have been great this year.

        I hope Webb doesn't finish top 3.

        I'd go:

        1)Lincecum
        2)Santana
        3)Sabathia
        4)Lidge
        5)Hamels

        In the AL, I'd go:

        1)Cliff Lee
        2)Roy Halladay
        3)Jon Lester

There is no doubt in my mind that Webb finish' in the top 3... After today with Linceum winning there should be no doubt that he will win it...

Lee and Lincecum will win the Cy Youngs. I've been saying this for weeks.

I concur with 007. There's been NO better pitcher in the NL this season that C.C. Sabathia. Look at his body of work. This guy has dominated the NL.

Did CC go undefeated in the second half? No he didn't, Santana dominates in the big time games. Best big time pitcher period. He is tops in every significant category in the last 10 years. He damn near pitched two complete games in finish the season on 3 days rest to keep the Mets in the playoff hunt. CC is good but he is not Santana.

Timmy or Webb will win the award, but it's a shame because you could make a great case for CC, Lidge, and Dempster. CC pitches 3 games on 3 days rest and is the reason the Brew Crew are in the post season....Lidge goes 41 for 41 saves w/ 1.95 ERA for the playoff bound Phillies, and Dempster has a great season for the team w/ the best record in the NL.
