Trainspotting not really a family movie.
"Mr. Murphy, what attracts you to the leisure industry?"
"In a word: leisure. It's like, my pleasure in other people's leisure."

no! um, well... I'm a bit of a perfectionist, actually!
for me it has to be the best, or nothing at all.
when things are even the slightest bit dodgy, I simply cannot be bothered...

#149"Mr. Murphy, do you mean that you lied on your application?"
"No! Uh. Yes. Only to get my foot in the door. Showing initiative and that like."
"But you were referred here by the department of employment, there was no need for you to get your 'foot in the door,' as you put it."
"Ehhh... cool. Whatever you say, I'm sorry. You're the man. The dude in the chair."
after this, i'd say that there's about a 60% chance that i watch Trainspotting this afternoon.Comment -

Giraffes are insincere,
And the elephants are kindly but
They're dumb.
Orangutans are skeptical
Of changes in their cages,
And the zookeeper is very fond of rum.
Zebras are reactionaries,
Antelopes are missionaries,
Pigeons plot in secrecy,
And hamsters turn on frequently.
What a gas! You gotta come and see
At the zoo.
I've never forgotten the line about the orangutans...whenever someone moves somethin' in my office i hear that line!
100 years down the road...Lennon/McCartney and Paul Simon should be put on the same lists of great "classical" (a word later people give to previous versions of "popular") composers in the same list as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart. "Sounds of Silence" and "Bridge over Troubled Water" and "The Boxer" etc. etc...
(a wide variety of music will be remembered tho..Tchaikovsky is a hell of a lot different than Strauss for example...for example, LedZeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love"'s gotta be remembered over the long haul as an absolute classic)...
unfortunately song-writing is an art that has been lost for these last 20 years. tons of "audio product"...almost nothing that resembles a "song"
Enjoy the zoo, and thanks for bringing up a wave of S&G nostalgiaComment -

We are proud to continue the great tradition of bringing together the leading figures in sports analytics, business, and technology.
BTW, I just watched this
..LTA posted it on his NBA thread a while back...Dr. Bob's on it and he basically says something like
*i never think in terms of "hot" and "cold"...just positive and negative variance...as long as i keep finding and buying value (what i can control)...i don't worry about the sequence of the wins and losses/the up days and the down days...because i know i'm on an upward (although guaranteed bumpy) path*...he also says something like
*when i'm what people call "hot" or when i'm what people call "cold"...i'm doing exactly the same thing...there's an illusion that when i'm hot, I'm "reading things" better than when i'm cold, but it's just an illusion...it's all just the ebb and flow of variance...like the flow of good and bad poker hands to an excellent poker player
__________________
so, bro...no need to get angry or even "get even"...just keep doin' what you've been doin and this mini-patch of "negative variance" will pass ...cuz you're dealing from a deck much richer in winners than the break-even % implied by the odds ur getting...so we'll take out that last equity high soon enough (...just consider any down days like this a chance to get to spend one more day with the same $-unit size--giving your calculator finger a rest,)

#171i hear you. Tribe is bad against lefties, but did hit Sanchez well in KC and has a bit of a history with him going back to last season with SF when that tomato can broke Choo's thumb. if i played anything here personally (since i don't want to fade Tribe), it'd be over. if the wind shifts as expected, could be a solid over opportunity. that said, i'm already on Yanks/Rangers over and i don't want to play a bunch of overs, so probably pass, root for Tribe and if they lose at least you win your play.Comment -

#172Biff, i had my eye on that Yanks/Rangers over as well. The ump seemed to lean on the under,
which was my only reservation. I will continue to check the weather and hopefully have
another solid play.Comment -

#173Ted Barrett should be the ump in the Ny/Rangers game. He seems to me
to be a slight under ump. If you have more light on the subject please let
me know.Comment -

#174i actually have Barrett as a mild over ump, though he did lean more towards under in 2011 than in 2010. that said, he's not a significant part of my reasoning for backing the over. the wind tunnel, the fact that both teams are raking the ball, my lack of confidence in both SPs and Rangers bullpen fatigue has much more to do with it. even if i treat Barrett as neutral ump, my model still says a range of 11.8-12.3 runs.Comment -
