The Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees have a framework in place for a possible A.J. Burnett deal and were working through conditions in that framework Sunday, according to baseball sources.
The Pirates and Yankees began their discussions with lots of common ground because New York wants to move Burnett, who is owed $33 million for the next two seasons, and Pittsburgh has been looking for a veteran starter who can provide innings.
Interesting move if it's made by Pittsburgh. Yeah they need rotation help, but paying for Burnett? Seems totally against the grain for the franchise. Idiots will probably get fleeced somehow in this deal. Buccos haven't made a good trade in quite some time.
