I wouldn't say it means shit. How he has played in each stadium is a good stat. In today's game for example, he is at home. So you know he will beat the Rays. But in that game where he was playing in Tampa, that was really the most relevant stat. Fading the Rays at home up until recently was not a very smart move. You just happened to fade them on the day they started losing.

      no longoria no crawford

halladay is a top 3 pitcher, why in gods name do you guys htink he has a problem with tb? bc he has a few losses out of his control?

He doesn't. The stat was really only relevant for when he played in the trop.

Agreeing with Ryan here, Jays home form is key. Also their bullpen has a 2.42 home ERA, vs Tampa's bullpen away 4.16.

It depends. How a pitcher has done versus a team in a year can be somewhat helpful, but it's also a small sample size to go off of. I prefer to see how the offense does against the type of pitcher the guy is, and if the team has done poorly/well versus the SP to back up the other stats, then they mean something IMO.

Stats only matter if Ryan is on that side, if he isn't then everything you say is meaningless

                  not really,

you can be a diuck all you want but you can throw stats out the window with halladay
his record this yr vs tb means absolutely nothing at all

The problem with stats is if there's no context to them, or the sample size is small, they can be misleading or downright wrong. It's always best to look at as many correlated numbers as possible; just looking at a SP vs. a team isn't enough IMO.

                      yeah
honestly, moyers lifetime vs fla or oswalts lifetime vs reds means zip to me

their is turnover year to year and its baseball, its not nba where matchups are so huge

i think if more people here played high school and college baseball, it would make more sense to them

pitchers dont always have their good stuff
its touch and feel, its all in your fingertips for many pitchers, so its impossible to know, hence laying on a huge fave is dumb
