I can't determine which side has the edge in this one. Karstens is certainly due to suck. I remember tailing his minor and major league starts when he was a Yankee. Streakiest pitcher ever. He get really hot like he did against the Dbacks, but then sucks a donkey dick. On the other hand, the pirates are facing an Edinson Volquez who is getting progressively worse and are now missing Griffey and Dunn.

Hard to tell which Karstens will turn out tonight but the good news for the Pirates is that there are two Volquezes. The pre- and post-all-star-break Volquezes.
I don't know what happened to Volquez during the break but he's been regressing progressively or progressively regressing. Methinks Pirates win this one and it goes Over. It's now hard for games involving Volquez to not go Over!

              Not playing either side here....

Why shouldn't you take him? Because he has shut out two teams in afternoon "shadow" games (one wind aided game too). He will be easier to pick up at night. And his run is due to end soon.....

Volquez is also due to be lights out again at some point.....

I really want to take Pitt, but I don't trust it.....

This is just a general trend I have noticed for pitchers. The start following a no hitter or a really good game si followed by a worse one. But do what you want.

What if Volquez still has one more bad game to go before redemption?
If I were to pick any team here, I'd take the Pirates.

Was hoping Karstens would have been another enormous pup in his next start. Just not the case here. Not enough value on either side to get my money involved. BOL to whomever involves themselves with this stinkfest.....

                        Good call my friend!
Karstens last two starts has been $$$ in the bank for me.
Not to mention triple digits in my fantasy league.
He's also half of my 2 team parlay this afternoon.
                        Have the under, also.
                        GL guys!

                                1) That's cherry picking
                                2) I think it's logical that most SPs coming off "a no hitter or a really good game" are going to have a hard time repeating the performance.
