    Wednesday Value Plays
    I went 0-2 -2.00 units yesterday.

    Dodgers -110
Pros: Kuroda has been pitching well this month. While Rusch has been good lately, he is 0-5 with a 14.21 ERA in 10 career games -- five starts -- against the Dodgers, and his team has lost each of those contests. Take the better overall team.

Cons: Colorado can only hit at home.

    Angels -172
Pros: Lackey is a cy young caliber pitcher. Laffey is only good at home. He's 0-3 with a 5.94 ERA in six road starts in 2008 after going 4-1 with a 4.17 ERA in seven away outings as a rookie last season. I know it's a lot of chalk, but the chances of the Angels losing is low.

    Cons: None

    Mariners -127
Pros: Felix Hernandez is by far the Mariner's best pitcher. He was able to shut down the Red sox at Fenway earlier this season, yielding 0 runs overs 6 innings. Clay Buccholz has been awful this year. Since being called up from Triple-A earlier this month, Buchholz is 0-2 with a 7.45 ERA in those outings. He has also struggled a lot on the road this season. Take the better starting pitcher.

Cons: Mariner's bullpen can be a little iffy.

I wouldn't be betting on Seattle. Yes, Buchholz has been bad lately but the guy will be pitching for his job today... The kid has a Hammer curve that is probably top 5 in the big leagues as well... Seems like a risky play to take the Mariners...

Buccholz is not ready for the majors yet. It would be a different story if the guy was at home. But on the road, he is an easy fade.

I would think there are better picks out there than the Mariners. The match-up favors the Mariners but can they be relied upon?
I think the Astros and even Marlins are worth taking a look at.

The Mariners are an excellent play. First off, the M's are trying to prevent getting swept at home. you also have to remember that the M's were shut down in the first two games of this series because of the pitching they faced. Lester and Dice-K are both great pitchers. You cannot compare Buccholz to these guys.
