I get home from work and start capping games. I come across the Jays/Rays game.
This is what I see -
Romero has been lights out in the 2nd half of the season and has thrown two dominant outings against Tampa in that stretch
Nieman has a terrible home experience with a losing record and ERA of +5
Nieman coming off a back injury and almost 10 days off
Jays should roll in this game...I lay my bet
1st inning, Nieman looks hurt and can't throw strikes. He throws 38 pitches and the Jays tag him for 2 runs (though it could have been more, but I was happy with Romero). Bottom 1st, the gambling gods take over and we see why this cannot be won. nobody on and Upton lifts a pop up in the infield that the first baseman loses in the roof (Upton single on next pitch). A two out grounder that ends the inning and the ss throws low for an error and UE run. Damon hits pop fly that 3 jays converge to and they conveniently all back off to let it drop. UE run and my lead is gone. Jays now trail 3 - 2 and I can watch the remaining game knowing all well, that this is a lost bet. I have one last game to help me out tonight. It's already a loser as I know where the day is going. A's will get rocked tonight by the angels
Why do I even bother with this. I have money (hard earned) riding on guys who make millions of dollars and will fail more often than not. I wish I could make millions to be a natural f*$#( up
